Which way do the seals go? In the manual it appears that they go in backwards. in otherwords, spring side facing the water and or impeller. I know the single lip seal goes closest to the bearing housing, and the double seal goes towards the impeller, but do they go in like this as shown?

Thanks BK! Actually both are correct I think. The second pict is the double lip seal with the first one behind it, first pict is the single lip.
CORRECT?????

Right or wrong, I have always followed the concept that if the spring pops off, I want it to be to the outside, not inside, plus it's very easy to remember.

Here she is alll cleaned up and ready to rip. I blasted the pump, it had some salt water corrosion, so I jb welded and did a quick clean up of the casting flash etc. Thanks to Dave at Impros for all the help! Zinc epoxy primed it, so hopefully it should stay minty fresh for years to come. Then tapped all the holes, added new seals, etc

Thanks. Its just for a spare SJ, but I figured i'd go through it complete. Now I need an impeller cheap. I still am not sure what set up i'm going to run in it, so..... I have a stock 701 62T/61X sitting around. Ripping into that as we speak

Zinc Epoxy Primer? Is that what a stock pump is painted/coated with? Where can you get that? I have a mag pump that all aluminum that badly needs coating

You can get the regular zinc phosphate primmer in the spray can at any local marine store but if you want the good 2-part epoxy zinc primmer you'll have to visit an automotive paint supplier.

What do you recommend? Or better yet what can I expect for longevity between the two. Obviously the 2 part is most likely superior but is the spary can stuff sufficent, I'm only planning on painting my pump? BTW I ride 100% salt water
