I'm in the process of modifying my RN hull. Shortening it, defoaming, wider tray, etc. I'm looking at doing all the glass/carbon work first, then begin the awesome process of giving all my money ro an engine builder in exchange for horsepower and a girlfriend who hates me and wonders why i spend all my time in the shop working on my ski instead of with her and spending all my money on the ski instead of her. I digress. Im looking at xscreams 865 or a motor of similar power.ill be getting a 144mm magnum setup. I have seen threads where guys need to shave the sides of the inlet to allow a larger pump to fit but i was thinking of sectioning the forward part of the inlet and moving it forward a little (1 inch give or take) to allow a larger volume of water to be sucked into the pump. I have seen this happen on hybrid 300sx hulls where the impeller will just cavitate due to a restricted waterflow to the pump. Has this been done on a superjet? Is it necessary? Will it be worth my time/effort? How do I get my girlfriend to shut up and accept my jetski addiction? Answers to these questions will be appreciated.
