SuperJet Stall Problem

So I am new to the forum and have been riding for about three years now, I own a 1990 (mint;)) square nose SuperJet. So the other day i was out riding and fell off, When i fell i pulled my lanyard out of my switch. Started the ski back up after the fall, it ran for maybe 3 minutes and just cut off? started back up ran for another 3 or 4 minutes did the same thing. basically did that about 4 times and then the ski would not start at all. took my switch apart cleaned it and made sure wires in switch were OK. Long story short, i went and rode again yesterday and i was riding down the lake and sure as hell if it didn't cut off and do the same thing. This time there was no fall involved with the issue. Any thoughts? its pissing me off

Look inside the switch at the boot covering the lanyard part of the switch under the plastic cover. The boot falls apart allowing water down inside the switch. Clean it out with air to dry it and pack it full of grease. Or another test is to unplug the the blk and white start stop wire and turn ur idle down low so it dies if you let off the throttle. Take it for a ride if its fine then u know the ss switch is the issue. Then try the grease i mentioned up top.

I recently had a cut out issue that turned out to be a leaking exhaust coupler, starving the engine for oxygen. Also i put new harness on all my start stop switches, they are 89$ and beats a wasted day at the lake, or swimming it in with an audience.
Jetmaniac sells the start stop switch harness. just get one now so you can ride for another 20years with a start stop issue!

You might also make sure your fuel filter is flowing freely. Also-, when your ski was young, the oem Yam filter would shed some cotton, which would then clog the nylon intake strainer inside the carb. Once you cleaned that, you were usually good for quite awhile.

Ok i have been on the lake all weekend and finally figured out after doing tests that Blue recommended, it is my switch Assy. If anyone knows of a switch alternative that does not have the lanyard cutoff that would be great.

@JetManiac has new internals for ur ss switch which is cheaper than a new complete assembly. I think the old kawi 440 and 550 did not use a lanyard as the ski would turn and circle if you fell off but you would need to cut and reconnect the wires. Replacing the internals is easiest. Glad u figured it out.
