Here I go again.... The rails I added at the begining of last season finally let go. They were made from surfboard foam with 2 layers of 6oz. cloth so I'm suprized they lasted as long as they did.I did like what they did for the handling but it was'nt perfect.

This time I'm making the tail narrower & rounder including the top. I also filled the area from the chine to the outside rail droping the edge of the rail @ 1/2in. Saw no need for the bond line rail so they got chopped. The shape of the ski should end up pretty smooth from top to bottom with the wider rails. Lots of shaping to do, the front of my garage looks like it snowed.

I really enjoyed your last build thread and the new ideas you incorporated into the hull. This will be a good thread to watch for sure.
I've been wanting to scallop the rear of a bottom hull for a while. the slalom waterskis are shaped this way also, fat at the front and tapered down at the rear.
I may have to ask for a ride at Daytona :silly:

Got a rough shape of the rail using a belt sander. The rest of the shaping will be by hand. Next I'll be extending the exhaust out the back then adding some to the tray.

Flash-FX

No Square..No Round..FX-1
For a minute there...after seeing that new BIG sheet of foam in the background, I thought the ski was going to "grow" too wide to fit in the Daytona transport trailer...AKA "Magic Bus". It's OK...it'll fit.

And you thought my FX is too hard to ride...:twak:

Looks really good! At least with all that foam it shouldn't ever sink nose first.

is the other side of the tray gonna be cut the same way? or is that one side to get you wider in the tray?

The other side will be the same. The old rail is still on the other side and I'm
using it to keep the width in check.

Got some leftover glass tube from Wavehog for the exhaust. I shaped an adapter from foam and added a few layers of glass. Tommrow I'll grind out the foam and glass to my old clamshell tube.
