Superjet taking on water fast

just picked up a new superjet. It is taking on water fast. The jet is set up for dual cooling. On one of the intakes this weird box is attached to it.. Just funnels in the water at float. Does anyone know why someone would put this on, or what it's purpose is? Also now that the water has warmed up a lot. I am starting to get hot after riding for a bit, am I best to add the second cooler, or better to keep the single and adjust the pipe? I am running head, b pipe, msd, boysen reeds

That's your stock bilge siphon. It should draw water out when underway. It should not let water in.

It connects to a through hull and then to the exit nozzle of the pump which creates a suction to draw the water out. It sounds like it's maybe connected to the cooling line off the pump (tapped for dual cooling?)if it's pushing water into the bilge when underway?

Trace your waterline to the through hull and to the pump. If your pump is setup for dual cooling you will have the two forward fittings on either side of the pump. These feed the motor/pipe with cooling water.

The rearward fitting on the left is where your stock siphon should be hooked up. Many people delete these altogether and use an aftermarket electric bilge.

Also I do believe the line leading from the through hull fitting in the bilge to that siphon box should be routed up above the waterline and back down to the siphon box.

Sorry I am pretty new to the standup seen. That makes sense, I also am running an electronic bildge. The siphon box is located at the right side of the pump under the ebox. the box definitely doesn't let any water out! Every time I go for a little spin, I come right back to the beach and lift the hood lots of water is in there. The is no scupper and it is all original paint and is mint under hull. Where would it leak this bad if it can't come through the box? If I float the ski for 2mins it is pretty much filled to the bottom of the motor.

I'm also fairly new to this stuff but have been learning some of the basics.

If it's filling up with water that quickly just floating, not running I'm thinking you have a leak from somewhere else, midshaft maybe, crack in hull?

If it's pumping water in while running maybe a disconnected or leaking waterline?

I would thoroughly trace all the water lines to make sure their secured and hooked up properly.

Your 1st picture there of the left side of your pump, the line is hooked to the reducyion nozzle pointing backwards. That same line shoukd connecr to thr "box" on the inside of the hull. The line inside should have a loop to the top of the engine compartment, it cant just plug into the box without a high spot.

The second picture there is hooked to the right side of yoir pump and is supplying water to your manifold. If ypur water is coming from there, you likely have a loose or damaged hose.

You need to figure out where the water is coming from inside. Run it strapped to the trailer or in the water with the nose against a pole. Let us know what you find out.

Will be having a good look at it after work today, I will keep it updated. The box has a long tube connecting to the undertray and making its way to the pump, it has a weird 45• connection in the middle of the line. Will get some better pictures when I am home. Thanks boys

That 45 degree connection should be mounted towards the top of the engine compartment above the water line. It's what keeps the water out while sitting still. Should be a hull insert in the bulk head somewhere, I forget where.

Any new update on this?

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've got a siphon box, hooked to the through hull, but the hoses are pretty long and join at a 90 which sits towards the top of the engine bay.
Are you saying it need to be Tee'd in a sense, with a vent tube towards the top of the bay?

I think I've also got some water leaking in from the outer seal on the midshaft housing. But I'm not sure if that siphon is the msin culprit.

It only takes on water when it's docked. Never while it's running.

Take a water hose and run some water into the engine compartment.Put enough water in it to just cover the midshaft. It will leak back out the driveshaft tube if it is leaking.
