Superstock

I bought a superstock recently from a pro rider that retired it a few years back. My question is, is the Cylinder worth anything as is? Its ported and has 85.5 sleeves. I just don't have any need for that kind of power and would like to tame it down. If I resleeve it its still going to be ported right? So stock is the only way to go for me I guess.

But a shorter prop, wusssnack.

We're all jealous of your setup and you come on the forum and complain. You need to be flogged.

Welcome to the X, it's great to have you here. Keep your setup, get a shorter prop for now, go back to stock exhaust if you have to, get bigger domes for your head, and I hate the Cowboys.

A lower pitched prop and a bored nozzle will change where the ski has it's power. It would be like putting lower gears in a car. Same power it just comes on in a different place..

BUT if you want to have less power let me know I have a stock wetjet motor 85 HP. I would trade for a superstock setup if you insist.

With the domes it has its sitting at 210psi according to specs. I have it torn down at the moment to check clearances and freshin it up before abusing it (or me). I just want to run on pump gas safely.

Forget the man card for that chick and just give me a scuba tank and I'll take care of the rest....

that's your opinion...

how do you know it's not 200psi and lowering along w/ a reprop may give him the power he is looking for...

It's not opinion, it's self-evident fact. (Or so I thought)

It's a race-ported Superstock (of course it has high compression!), and he wants more power down low.

Race engines are ported for mid to topend, then the bottom end is made up for with compression.
Lowering that compression will result in horrible off-idle power.

Snacksnack, if you want to run it on pump gas, you'll have to lower compression quite a bit.
Even with a low end impeller, your power will not be right for what you want.
You're changing a motor package. It was built to make the best power with the compression it currently has.

You might be better off selling the entire engine and buying what you want instead.
JMHO.

you act like you built the engine yourself... you are just making assumptions about an motor you have never seen like anyone else...

he said he wanted less power SO lowering compression and switching the prop would do that. 210psi is ridiculous... lower it to 180psi and run it on 93 octane all day...

lowering compression will make the motor last longer too...

You might be better off selling the entire engine and buying what you want instead.
oh yeah... that's some stellar advice right there... HA HA HA

You crack me up Matt...

Really?

haha I just want to have more low end power.
Tell me how lowering compression will do this?
Have you tried a racing superstock engine with lowered compression?
(I have)

Trying to make a purpose-built racing engine into something it's not is rarely worth the time and effort.
I am trying to give advice that won't result in more headaches for the OP.
Everything technical has been said, so with that, I am out of here.
Internet pissing matches aren't my thing.

i dont know how to say this but my motor seems to go against what you are saying.

my judge race ported motor only has 165 psi
and im pretty sure that my motor has more bottom end than most the people
on this board

have you been to a race? most races are won at the first bouy off the start
where the bottom end is needed

Yes, been to races.

Out of curiosity, was your motor built with that compression, or did you lower it?
