Surfriding Surf rolls....Why am i being a p*ssy??

So i'm not getting my rolls all the way round and landing on my side....mainly because I don't like rolling off big waves. I don't mind flipping off anything big though...Weird!?
Also what position am I aiming for my pole to be in when I roll? flatwater boys say pole on the hood but that's for quicker rotation im guessing.
I have just bought a waterproof MP3 player so I can get myself pumped up out there!

My first roll tied the pole down and leaned out over it and fully rotated. Did the the whole -try look under the ski thing to get the roll started.

I'm skiing on Sunday hopefully so im going to get some nuts and go for it.
Using a speedo one i got off ebay...the other lads i ride with swear by them...plus Phil has surfers ear so has to plug them to stop water getting in.

Do you roll surf stance or both feet in the holds?

Surf stance is a slower roll for me left foot forward and I spin to the right mostly. (They say left is easier because of the impeller rotation) You're standing up a little taller this way and I go a little slower at the wave and really Crank it around with my body.
I like to nose these in.

With both feet in the holds I'm a standing little lower/forward and easier to get the pole lower and kinda torpedo. You can go really fast at the wave like that .

If you lift up the pole you slow the rotation. You don't have to keep it on the hood but you don't want to be standing up because I feel like I do a weird pirouette roll/spin when I get lazy. Rolls are tricky to get consistent. Flips are much easier for me also like you had mentioned.

Keep at it and you'll get it. Make sure you got fresh mounts and everything strapped tight in your hull. I broke a lot of sh it learning rolls.. Lol

I ride in the footholds for my flips and rolls...I only ride surf stance when im surf riding. Seems that surf stance is popular with you guys over in America but most of the Euro riders use the holds for ariel tricks. I've never tried to roll to the right as left has always left natural but i'll give it a go.

I've got GP800 mounts in since i got my ski nearly a year ago and i have not broken one yet!! Hard to believe really after the beating i have given them.
