I know exactly how you feel bro....
I have been there too, looking around highway 1 myself...how hard could it be? right?
Don't do it......it's illegal, and you risk a BFF (Big Fat Fine)...

This is a bit old but talks about the Ban that started on 2/1/09

There is a 7K square mile sanctuary where PWC are banned, here is a map:

Sorry, this is what the EnviroNAZIS have fought so hard for....
Pismo is pretty much the closest surf spot there is to the bay area.
There is another beach up north I keep hearing about...ssshhh!
But that is also a 3+ hour drive from the bay area.

I am not going to tell you what to do but whatever you do, keep it low....
very, very low and do not attract attention to you...and don't ride alone, always bring a riding buddy.

and let me know what you find out there....

Been to Santa Cruz a bunch of times and the size of the surf and the set lengths are insane! If you can't surf there, than there is no hope for you! Don't even think about loading a ski in there, its a nuclear free/any thing motorized thats fun free zone. Nothing but Very stuck up hippies and surfers there! You can have that place!

you guys may have better surf, but the laws in cali are GHEY!
ill take out shallow water and smaller waves anyday vs. having to deal with the law

It is what it is Pal....and yes they suck Donkey Penis.
I am sick of it! for real....I even get depressed sometimes....:banghead:

The passion for surf riding is overwhelming and I have the beautiful Pacific ocean 30 minutes away and I can't ride Squat....

This is taken from the GroupK website:
http://www.groupk.com/pwc-faq-2stk.htm

"I heard that eventually all 2-cycle PWCs would be banned from all public waterways...is that true??"

NOT TRUE AT ALL! These litigious enviro-groups used the media to give the false impression that carbureted 2-cycle pwcs would be banned from public waterways all over the nation. The enviro-groups did not dare to seek a ban against the 13million 2-cycle outboards, because they knew they would be over-run by the very powerful fishing sport lobby. Since the enviros wanted credit for "something".... their initial strategy was to use the federal courts to ban only carbureted 2cycle PWCs in all NPS parks. They sued The National Park Service for "negligence", claiming that carbureted 2-cycle pwcs were being allowed to harm the environment (ignoring the fact that there were 13 times more carbureted two cycle outboards). Since the NPS had to respond in some way, they opted for a timetable that would require 2006 compliant pwcs & outboards “at all NPS park waters” by 2012. The national parks waterways account for about 4% of the available recreational national waterways in the USA. Those parks will not be “policing” for carbureted PWCs until 2012 …. “if” the badly under-funded NPS actually figures out a way to do such policing."

THIS IS THE BULL:):):):) THAT WAS SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS......

Now if you want to Vomit:

"
Our sturdy first class ocean skiffs are equipped with 8hp outboard motors and are just about the best way to enjoy the beauty of Monterey bay"

Even if these engines were 4 stroke,
Can someone explain to me what is the difference between the engines on those boats and a 4 stroke Jet ski?

I don't want to even talk about this subject as it makes me really sick to my stomach.....

2 Strokes got banned a long time ago up in lake tahoe, never researched it properly but after years it appears they found out that the boats have been spilling out alot more and causing more damages than a couple of 2 strokes

Once something is outlawed, you're very unlikely to get it back, no matter what the facts may be.

I swear to God and you guys can laugh all you want at me....
But I will be the first one to ride an Electric stand up ski in the surf in NORCAL....

Friend already made one in a 550 hull. Doesn't work, not enough power and lack of throttle control. Ski was powered by 12 boat batteries.

This is the spot....:):):):)ing paradise Man!!!

And yes it is FAR:

Driving directions to Westport, California from San Ramon California

214 mi – about 4 hours 2 mins
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sad....664067,-122.398682&spn=2.543336,5.822754&z=8

A little info on the town of Westport:
Westport is located 13 spectacular miles north of Fort Bragg.
This tiny town once had a thriving population of over 20,000 people
when Lumber was king and the North Coast was home to fishermen and loggers.
Today the population is a little more than 230.

This is where the word "Localism" was probably born.....
Got to keep it on the low side, I don't think they will welcome a bunch of wild loud motorized smoking......you know what I mean.

I want to go there at least once and check it out.
There is a Member here that lives up there or close by and says the place is off the hook.......

technically riding in any surf is illegal in cali...i think its no boats within 200 feet of surf unless your launching or coming back in...luckily at pismo the rangers are too busy with all the yahoos on rented quads
