Surfing/freeride best mods needed(suggest)

hi all , i have a stock yamaha 06 Sj ..

am asking you guys , what u suggest or think i should install for surfing or freeride .

somethings thats affordable , reliable and pleased to be ridden without any problems ..

For freeride you don't need big mod.
Footholds, Impeller, Worx or Riva Grate, Factory Pipe B and Aluminium handlepole.
About scuppers, you don't need, just for freestylers...
In Freeride 1 bilge pump works ok !

start off by ordering a handlepole limiting rope and hood straps. those are cheap and will keep you from sinking your ski and breaking your pole.

put an aftermarket electric bilge pump in it.

shorten your stock handle pole 2 or 3 inches. its a cheap and fairly easy mod.

buy aftermarket prop and intake grate.

add footholds/and or footstraps.

buy a factory b-pipe

buy a girldled head or mill the stock one.

do everything in this order or as money permits.

you might try riding other peoples set-ups and decide which mods are for you.

not sure, but the 201 is the one everyone uses....

Not sure if was mentioned, but definitely returf w/ hydro turf and use the 25mm under padding. Your feet will love you for it!!!!

I would add the B-pipe, 185 psi head and Legdrags TBM cone and prop setup.

whats the diffirence between the WORX 205 and 201 grate ?

201 is slightly less aggressive so the rear brakes lose a little easier (helps slashes)

tbm is the pimp stuff for steering, but blowsion -1 turnplate with umi bearings is what i run. you can build your own "quicksteer" setup with the stock turnplate. also do the matt e mod by drilling the steering cable mount on the nozzle closer to the outlet

i just shorten my pole -2 ,. cut the D plate . got the 2 bilges .

waiting for my front exhaust and waterbox ..

when i ride in flat water with the -2 shorter i feel sometimes uncomfortable ,. anyone facing a back pain of this ?

or maybe just cause ive been riding the stock pole for 2 years ? :dunno:

I felt that the d-cut plate made up for the shorter pole. The ski rides more nose-up. I started with -2", but went to -5". Much better imo.

I also use the 205 grate, less agressive, does not act as a brake once you let of the throttle.

Check out Impros new impeller, look nice!

Pump cone is nice too.

I would build the staps and rope myself from trusty old ACE hardware parts. It is much cheaper then going through Blowsion, and I have found the Blowsion stuff to be very cheap, and not hold up as well.

Other then that, alll of these suggestions are right on the $.

Personally, i will never do another scupper or front exhaust setup again, I am over flatwater.
