SXI 750 getting XI Sport Engine Transplant. Need help

Bought this 1995 SXI 750 yesterday with no engine, missing some steering parts & in need of alot of TLC. I have a 1998 XI Sport with a good engine that I will be using as the powerplant. So far, I have cleaned up the engine bay of the SXI 750 and I have removed the engine & electronic box from the XI Sport. I do plan to convert to premix & also do the crankcase blockoff.

• I need some steering parts at the top of the pole but I am not sure exactly what I need? All I have at the top of the pole are the handlebars and the plate that the bars mount to.
• I received the shell of the e-box for the SXI 750 but with nothing in it. The e-box is a different shape from the XI sport. Would I be able to just transfer over the internals from one box to the other? Could I use the box from the XI Sport and just mount in a different place?

The SXI didn't come with a steering cable but my XI Sport had the same part number so I am going to transfer it over. I need to run the steering cable & throttle cables and then I will install the gas tank which is currently drying from being rinsed out and cleaned. Once I get the gas tank back in, I will go ahead with transferring over motor mounts & install the engine after I clean it up some and install crankcase blockoff.

Pretty sure the difference in the ebox is just the fuse, but I went from a SP sitdown to a BP sitdown donor. The eboxes there were basically the same. I'm pretty sure the internals are almost all identical.

I'll probably take the XI sport e-box apart and reference some pics to place it in the SXI e-box shell that I have then. I was thinking they would be same internals, just a different shape box.

So on my task list, looks like I need to:

• Swap XI Sport Electronics to SXI E-box
• purchase new fuel pickup
• purchase kill switch
• purchase chinpad
• purchase plate for steering that mounts to pole
• order new intake/exh gaskets
• Run steering & throttle cables
• install gas tank
• Thinking I am going to swap bearing/driveshaft assembly from Xi Sport to SXI as they have the same part numbers and the SXI shaft has a little noise to it
• install motor mounts
• install waterbox
• install motor

I'm thinking I will only have a little time here and there to work on this but hoping to have it ready to test ride within a month. After I get it working mechanically, I will likely do new paint and turf this winter.
