i am taking my head to the machine shop and was wondering if anyone knows how much to take off of the head to be safe. without touching the squish pad and without running different fuel.

To add enough compression to make a difference you have to run more octane like 91 other wise you are wasting your time and money. Check your compression first with a good gauge and you can run 175-180 with 91 octane with stock timing. .015 is about 10lbs compression, but after that you have to recut the squish band after milling any farther because there is not much lip on the stock heads.
