SXR SXR in truck bed with gate closed?

I am considering getting an SXR and would be putting it in the truck bed (standard 78 inch bed) while I search for a trailer. Any chance I will be able to close the gate if I turn the ski sideways? Seems to me it will still be too long but wondering if anybody has done it. Thanks

I put an sxi on a hitch hauler and havent had any issues... Make sure your hitch is rated sufficiently for the weight. My tacoma Class 3 can hold 650, which I'm way under with the ski and hauler

No way. It's the best way to get a single ski around.

I have had blasters, SXR, SJs, wet jets, X2s, rickters, BOBs. You name it they have been on my haulers with no problems.

Once you use one you will never trailer a single ski again.

its a babby wittle ranger, tailgate open, just straped in, works fine, doesent move

it is a Sn of coarse though, dont know if that changes anything




1 more thing, when ive trailored skis in the past, ive allways put the on backwards, so the engine is tword the back of the trailor, that way its allot easier to move around if needs be [Not sure if its a smart idea] thats just what ive done

If the vehicle is big enough, that's fine. But I'd make sure it's rated for the near 400lbs of tongue weight that an SXR brings with it.

I have had SXRs on a ford escape and you don't even know it's there.
Along as it's a 2 inch receiver you are covered for any standup out there. They under rate them to be safe and any ski won't even hit that under rated number.

Like I said - if the vehicle is rated for it, it'll work.

Just cause someone does it, and it works out for them, doesn't mean you should recommend everyone does it.

I'm not a fan of hitch haulers myself. With a truck, you can't put down the tailgate. With an SUV, you can't lift the hatch.

I like my trailer, but if I didn't want to tow long distances, it would go in the ned of my truck. Only if I didn't have room for all my crap and didn't want to tow would I resort to a hitch hauler.

My SJ fit in the back of my shortbed 07 Dodge diagonally, so did an 750SX, but not even close with the SXR. A long bed full size might.

The ones I build you can open a hatch or open some tail gates. Also you can back right in the water and load and unload by yourself. Also in the shop from a cart to the hauler.
You can't beat a well made hauler.
