Sxr msrp $$9599.00 !!

It is crazy here, some of the new couches are $18,000. I think Kawi is bad but seadoo is the worst. They make them here, and sell them for 25+% less in the US... I wanted a new kawi 15f --$12,350 in canada, --$8,399 almost 4k in the difference! I refused to buy....

The problem is that they're soooooo worth it though.

You probably get a SuperJet, a 550, or something along those lines cheaper.

Just think they cost 5500 when they were released in 2003. That was a 500 reduction from the price of a 2002 SXi Pro.

So what has changed in the past 6 years? Not a damn thing except BNG!

What is the conversion from Canada currency to USD? I always use www.xe.com

What's changed? Take a look at the economy. 4/1/03 the Yen to USD conversion was 120:1, and 4/1/09 is was 98.5:1. So $5000 in 02 bought 600000 Yen, and in 09, the same $5000 bought 492500 Yen. So to get the same 600000 Yen, you'd need to charge $6100. It's that simple.

The problem is the Canadian purchasing power vs. the Amarican Kawi wants to make X amount out of each market, So if they sell for example 5000 units in Canada they will probally sell 10000 in the States if not more, thus they double the cost+exchange rate.

That is crazy talk. It it based on the exchange rate at the time pricing is set. If the CDN dollar was worth 3/4 of the U.S. dollar at the time the prices were set, then expect to pay 10,000 Loons while U.S. buyers pay $7500. The U.S. has had a strong dollar compared to CDN, but it hasn't always been that way in recent history.

Yep, just look back to Nov 07, $1USD only bought $.90CAD. If you took $5500CAD to the US, it would buy $6111USD. In that same time frame the $1CAD bought 122JPY, where as today, it is exchanging at 79.00 as I speak. If their goal was 600000JPY, then in Nov 07 they would have only needed to charge $4918CAD to the dealers. Today they would need to charge $7594CAD to the dealer to make the same amount. Now, as we know, when the exchange rate goes their way, they will take a larger profit instead of discounting the product because they know it will sell for "X", or they discount it some, but then the dealers increase their profit margin. This is normal as in a market like todays, they have to greatly discount the product for a) crappy exchange rate, and b) they need to move product because they aren't selling worth a damn.

Unfortunately, the CAD is a slave to oil prices. If you overlay the cost per barrel of oil and the USDCAD exchange rate, they will almost exactly mirror each other. As oil goes up, USD goes down and CAD goes up.
