650/X-2 SXR,ZXI - TS1000 Motor Questions

I have a TigerShark TS1000 with a bad rod and cylinder on the mag side. So Im thinking bout cutting that cylinder out and rewelding the mag case back on and redoing the crank to mach. The bore and stroke is 81x64.6. So would this mean when Im done I will have an 775 motor? The SXR 800 is a 82x74 and the ZXI 750 is a 80x74. So it should be in the middle of them and have a shorter stroke giving it more low end? Am I thinking right or not?

Because I have more time than money. And I just want to see if I can do it and get it to work. I cut the bad rod out of it and it still ran good. So i know it will run. Just wondering what size it will be and if it would make more bottom end power than my ZXI 750. Because it has a shorter stroke and a bigger bore.

thanks for the info. I have a machine shop to redo the crank. I was just going to remove the extra coil in the ebox. would I have to do somthin to the timing or would it be fine?

best case scenario would be to find the 2 cylinder version of this motor, use it's crank and ignition if your set on cutting and welding the case and cylinders. Since TS motors are worthless you'd be better off buying a complete motor. You'll also have to modify the hull or motor to get it to mount. I don't know what coupler style that motor has but I'd guess it's not the same as in your hull.

by the time you're done you'll have a motor no one wants for way more money than fixing the one that is already in your kawi. What hull is this going in? sxr, zxi?

This project is not a good idea. The only reason to do it is if you feel like you want to prove you can, not because you'll save money.

your timing will be way off. The cost of the machine shop to turn your 3 cylinder crank into a 2 cylinder crank will be more than most good used 2 cylinder PWC motor of any make.

Balance it right and don't mess with the crank / ignition timing. It'll sound like a 2-stroke Harley.

2/3 of a 1000cc engine is 667cc, not 775. 81x64.6 = 665.8cc.

Completely not worth it, you might as well get a Kawi 650 for cheap and build it up.

Short stroke = less low end also, better for top end.

what about the bore and stroke difference the 650 is only 76x70 the 1000 is 81x64.6? it will be 667cc but it will have a 81mm piston

Google "engine displacement formula". Google is pretty easy to use.

pie / 4 x (bore^2) x stroke x number of cylinders.
