SXR800 vs round nose SJ

I have a round nose SJ and was thinking about the SXR800, The SXR guy is asking $5,000 for his and it has very low hours, my SJ is a 99 and i bought it for $3,000 and it has fairly low hours on it as well. Both jets are stock. Since i never ridden an SXR800 i cant compare the 2, so i was wondering if someone here can give me their opinion on them, as far as how they handle VS each other, how they are in choppy waters, and which ones is better to learn tricks on etc etc... Id appreciate it.

Without ligtening the SXR or adding a ton of power then the superjet will be much better for freestyle, freeriding, etc.

They will handle differently though. The SXR will rail in the corners. You can turn very sharp without slipping out unlike I'm sure you've already noticed on your SJ.

The SXR will handle chop better, but that really only helps on the race course. If you're interested in racing then definitely pick up an SXR. If you're just interested in freestyle then stick with your SJ and save yourself some money by not having to drop a ton of money into an SXR to make it "freestyle worthy".

Also $5000 is definitely on the high side for used SXR's. I am looking at buying one and I got a quote for a brand new 06 for $5250 OTD and a brand new 07 for $5300 OTD (no trailer).

Do a quick search and you should have more than enough to read on comparisons between the 2 ski's.:biggthumpup:

SXR is about 60lbs heavier than a SJ, couple inches longer, bit wider and taller yes only has about 8hps more over a SJ, so power to weight ratio wise i would go with a SJ myself. I do a lot of shore to shore riding wich i get abused on because of the wakes, with some tricks trying to hit the wakes from the boats and try to rail some turns. My 650sx seems to be easier on all those. Maybe it would be nice to own a pair of 2 different jets, but you are right the price is a bit high, its a 2004.

What would be a more stable ski in the ocean and would one would be more fun just going off the wakes without doing any freestyle trick? are the SXRs harder to do subs on?

the sxr is better all around in stock vs. stock form. It is better for racing. The sxr is probably easier to learn to ride on to, cuz its bigger. Superjets are great freestyle skis with a little bit of money, compared to the sxr being a good freestyle machine with alot of money. Have both.
