taking in water riding surf

What flame arrestors are you guys running in surf? I'm finally really getting surf riding and nose stabs down well but I am having a hell of a time with the engine inhaling water ever time I dive under even the slightest bit. I am running dual self bailing plugs which are awesome and I have a set of Blowsion Tornado flame arrestors. I put tape over the tops to keep the water from pooling in the top of the flame arrestor and then running into them when I get off level and that helped a lot but not nearly enough. I just ordered the 701 Flame arrestors to try but what else should I do if anything? I also got a new hood seal to put on and hopefully that will help.

My choice would be the 701 F/A first followed by stock. You can also work with the vent tubing through the hood, I have seen some block off the rear vent and I have seen others that have used PVC pipe to make a 90 degree elbow in the top of the vent to make it harder for water to get in to the vent.

i never had a water issue on mine when i had the stock airbox with 1 screen. I beat the hell outta it and always nose stabbing. Def put that new hood seal on and the 701 ind airboxes are like the stock ones so you should be good to go. just remember check your plugs after the new airboxes are on. stock and stock style compared to aftermarket arrestors need to be tuned different ( pop off)

ditch the tornados , i had the same issue , water in carbs after a roll etc and then would not start or bog for few mins , put stock back on and not had one problem

I have K&N F/A's and I got the pre-filters for them but haven't had much of a chance to use them yet. Just got this motor going again so I'll have some seat time with this setup shortly.
