taking the dash off and turfing.

I think I am going to ditch the dash and run turf, is there anything I should know before going through with it? it looks like it is just held on by 4 rivets. I assume I just need to drill those out and then fill the holes with some 5200 or something and I will be good to go.

Yep.

Unscrew the ring around the petcock. (obviously.) Put some silicone sealant in the holes and re-rivet them without the dash.

That is correct, only 4 rivets and it is off. I did the same with the holes, 5200, ant then turfed. If you drill them, they may start to sping just take some pliers and hold the rivet from inside the engine compartment.

If the holes leak slightly, they simply open into the bilge so don't worry about them too much with that Atwood you'll be getting.

Don't put much pressure on the rivet when you drill and they won't spin.

Buy 4 stainless countersunk 10mm bolts for the e-box mounts and countersing them in dash so you can turf over them.

NO!!! Do not do this. If for some reason you need to get in your ebox which you will need to and it is corroded on to the bracket then you want to be able to easily remove the 4 bolts from the outside so you can get the ebox out of the ski.

We countersunk mine with flathead bolts and it looks great, but looking back on it I really wish I would have just left the 4 bolts on the outside of the turf or cut holes in the turf that were exactly the same size as the bolts.

When we did my footholds we just used some leftover epoxy from the footholds and filled in the holes.

I did similar, and used epoxy with milled fibers mixed in, but if you turf properly, you would not even have to fill in the holes. Water will not soak through the turf.

I also used stainless hex bolts (not sure what they are called)with marine greas on the threads when installing my electrical box brackets to keep the electrolysis to a minimum.

On my dash I put a layer of 8 mm padding and cut around the four bolts so that the surface of the bolts and the surface of the pad is the same height and then I turfed over that. No counter sinking and you can't see the bolts.

Use allen heads, no problems. I have also ised regular Machine head type allen bolts and left just the ends exposed, not as clean of a look, but better than the hex's sticking out fo sho.

Youre Still not ahead of the game. You'll have to rip off turf still to remove the E-Box:banghead:
