FX-1 Tank Breather Thingy Question

Redoing the fuel lines in the FX1 I just got & had a question on the breather tube. It runs to this little thing on the side before running up the handle pole...see first pic. Do I need this? I'm trying to clean up the compartment & remove any unnecessary things.

Thinking of removing the "on" tube too & just running the "res" tube to clean up the compartment & tray area too by removing the selector. (NOT SURE ON THIS THOUGH)

Back on topic, my 550 has nothing after the in-line valve thing. Is this ok? Or can I run the tube to a bypass fitting in the hull, so it looks like a water bypass line? Or does it need to run up the pole?

Thanks,

The "white thingy" is a water-air seperator. Not a big deal to run this. I don't on my skis as well as a lot of other people don't on theirs. In regards to the the fuel selector, i have removed mine as well. The good part of that is when winterizing the ski you can simply turn the selector to off and put stabilizer in the tank. I would recommend to not run either, but its not a big deal with whatever you decide-mike

It is a water/air seperator so water doesnt get sucked into the tank.
as long as the end of the vent hose isnt getting into standing water, it can be eliminated

That is the water separator for the tank breather. It works good, until it fills completely with water, which is what the drain is for.
You can remove it if you want, and cut the hose to the check valve. Just keep it to the top of the tank.

My personal opinion is to just leave it.

i dont run mine. my vent line is sticking 3" off the top of my tank. no way for water to get in. i also dont run my selector. i run straight from my tank to a filter, then to the carb. then from cabr back to tank. with a stock tank, i have never come close to running out, i can do a good 4 hrs riding on one tank

Thats what i was thinking. Dont think fitness wise i can last riding through an entire tank of fuel anyways, especially in the surf. And i almost never ride by myself so don't really worry about runing out of fuel, others will switch to reserve and we will all head back.

did you remove the selector from the tray area and seal up the hole and turf over it? Just trying to get a cleaner look there too.
