tank pan needed?

I am going to install a kart tank in an A/M hull, do I need a tank pan for it or will it be fine if the straps are tight enough?

It doesn't hurt to have a tank pod. I ran just two straps and was fine, but I would have some sort of stoppers to prevent side to side movement and turf on the bottom so it can't slip. I had pool noodles surrounding it so it never moved.
