just opened up my flywheel cover so i can pull the flywheel to get at bendix and found this

looks like it was rubbing on in inside of my flywheel cover.. have only turned over the motor a couple of times

Team Scream uses stock cases and i have a stock flywheel cover...

there is not really any evidence of witness marks on the flywheel cover.. maybe a reall small spot.. but there is all the dust you can see on the flywheel front and back and a very small amount of metal shavings on the back of the flywheel

anyone else seen this before?

I don't think we've seen that before!
I know I true all the cranks before assembly (you wouldn't believe how bad some are brand new out of undamaged Yamaha boxes) so for sure it's not that + it would only rub randomly. I would find out where it's rubbing and grind out the cover or change the stock cover over to a Cold Fusion billet cover as we have use lots of them and no problems like that.

im guessing not everyone uses the cold fusion flywheel cover tho?

this is the flywheel cover i pulled off my 04 superjet

it does seem to be rubbing in one area.. the cover is located on the dowels..

i used this same cover with a jetnetics flywheel and msd lightened flywheel

never heard of anyone having issues in stock cases with stock flywheel cover

little frustrating that im now going to have to lay out even more $$ on a AM flywheel cover... so i may hit the cover with a dremel.. but even so...

Did you have the front cover gasket installed when you rotated the engine over?

yes...

it was ready to go in the water, but i had a bad starter and my new oem one came is so i pulled the motor to swap it out.. while i had the motor out i decided to open up the front cover to check the bendix and this was what o found
