Thanks for fing up my Tach thread!!!

I had a pretty good thing going on. Tons of good info now it is locked because of some bickering....thanks

Anyways thanks for all the tuners that seriously posted all kinds of great information. I just put in order at Watcon. I figure I got roughly a grand on this setup so a $200 tool to make it work right isn't really an issue for me.

I just don't know where to start. As of now the carbs are set up like this:

Low speed: 120
High speed: 140
N/S: 2.5
Spring: 80 gram

I'm thinking I may need to at least change the high speed to 130 or so. My motor has 180 psi, b pipe with mod chamber, and msd enhancer. Everything else is stock.

The tach will let you know where you are at and where you need to go follow Randy's instructions they work quite well and will get you dead on.

Carb size? Stock 38s?

Search for the carb database....you have common mods so I'm sure there will be useful info for you there. Use that and Randy's tuning info with a tach and you're golden!

As of right now I run 38's
Main: 135
Pilot 72
stock spring 95 grams I believe
N/S: stock

I have two retail 44s I want to install. Jetting as follows
140 for the high
120 for the low
2.5 for the N/S
80 gram spring

I'm pretty sure with this new tach and randy's instructions I should be able to get it dead on.

The dual 44 jetting is way too rich.
I'd shoot for 2.0 N&S, 95g springs for about 23-25 psi popoff, 115 pilots, 122.5 mains.

Follow Randy's instructions, he is a very knowledgeable guy. You really can't go wrong with a good tach. If you end up thinking it was a waste, just post it up for sale, it won't last long.

Good luck,
Scottie

Thanks for selling all my tachs!

Hey,
I just wanna thank you guys for selling (4) tachs in the last few days!! I'm sold out now, and have more on order..

J-pilot,
I will personally help you tune your ski via the phone, (this is part of your purchase).. Many of these guys have opinions, but not all are correct!
I originally wrote the first tuning tip for a woman racer in Australia, and she understood perfectly what I was telling her.. I will post it here again, maybe it will help?

It takes a different fuel map here in WA state than most areas.. RAD today is 107%, raining and 47º. This requires a ton of fuel.. Matt E, drop me a call when you have time, your 22mm stroker motor is done!

I am willing to help all customers that purchase products from me with free technical support.. Carb jetting is easy once you understand the basics, and follow a tuning process.

The tachometer and tuning for peak Rpm is neccesary, as mentioned earlier, as correct peak Rpm tuning will provide the best response and accelleration in the "mid-range" and thats where freeriders (& freestyle) need the snappy accelleration.

Thanks,
Randy

Why did the mods lock the Tach thread???

It looks like the Advent Tech-Tach might be the best one for jetting applications because it has a programmable stop watch between two rpm settings and an EGT probe for measuring the exhaust temp.
The other tachs would only be good for tuning the high speed screws and peek idle speed.
