1997 Sonic Jet Cafe Racer

Not a whole lot about the ski, but from what I have been able to gather the ski was designed and built by Albert Mardikian of Laser Jet. It came stock with a PJS 850 135hp engine and a dual impeller pump. Legend has it that all of the Cafe Racers where stolen during their transition from one facility to another, including many of the viper 9000 and after that they gave up the pwc business.

With all my google Foo I have only been able to find two pictures of the ski a green one and red one. I now own the red one. (well more of an orange now). The ski has also never been on the water so hopefully she floats. :)

So far the list of interesting parts that have come on this thing:

-Solar panel
-Motorcycle rear shock
-Foot brake with the brake being on the ride plate
-Brake lights (light is from a CBR 1000F Hurricane)
-Springs under the foot wells
-Dual impeller pump (looks like a 650sx pump with a 550 impeller behind the viens where the pump cone would normally be)
-Dual throttle levers
-Dual rear exhaust outlets
-Dual exhaust PJS waterbox

Ski is a little bigger then an x2. and probably weighs around 260lbs.

Original Engine looked like this, but had all of the PJS markings ground off.

The rear shock had rusted through one of the eyes and broke off so I ordered a 1000lb 280mm shock off amazon. And going through the current 650sx engine before i try and ride her. I dont know much about Kawa twin cylinders so any tips let me know!

Current engine details:
650sx
-650sx pump with PJS pump and steering nozzle
-PJS Exhaust (possibly from the PJS 800 engine?)
-Sudco 50mm tapered to 42mm carb with port matched manifold.
Seat 1.6 / Pilot 82 / Main 152
-Told it was out of a sleeper x2

Wanted to see how the solar panel was hooked up and the wires have been pulled out. Not sure if it is worth messing with so going to leave it for now.
And some pics of what the steering looks like.

its going to be a turd powered by a 650 that has 50hp stock, when it came with a 135hp setup.
needs an sxr800 motor ported to the moon with all the bells and whistles attached , to get anywhere near 135.
that prop looks like a skat in front and a stock 650 in back.
if its got the pjs ripturn nozzles on it, I get $450 for those lol.
blue sudco keihin 42mm carb. needs duals
the 650 pjs pipe created the least amount of hp since the chamber is just about the same volume as a stocker.
is that a 2 bolt head pipe? pjs always used 2 bolt head pipes even on their fancy stuff.
when you are ready to get rid of that thing, I have a guy that collects pjs junk.
I just sold him a pjs sea jet 900 for $1000 and an 1993 f15 thunderjet hull with the dual exh for $1000.

That rear prop looks to have been used. major cavitation pitting.

Casting marks it has never been in the water.

I presume this is the one from pwctoday that was for sale off and on for the last decade? I remember an old thread about it? very interesting!
Yup!

Dude....It's a sitdown BlunderJet, cobbled together by the same incompetant conman who had no business making personal watercraft. MESS. I remember seeing them prototyping this POS at Mission Bay. Don't put any $$ into it. You'll regret it.

I like finding and rebuilding/riding oddball things so wont be a total regret.

Good to know! Ski is covered in PJS parts. I did find the last guy to have the original engine out of the ski. It was missing a crank and pistons so he sent it off to get rebuilt. The guy is looking through his warehouse and is going to let me know if/when he finds it. This was in 2009 so fingers crossed..

Started the ski up and she leaked at the head pipe coupler so took the exhaust out. Looks like it was hand welded together.
@TheBuzzard I dont know anything about kawa's is this a 650sx exhaust or for a differnet ski?
Manifold to headpipe opening measures 44mm and has one hole for water to spray in right before the coupler.
Largest part of the chamber measures 5.75" across.

I've never seen a tail section like that so its probably the pipe that came on that ski originally.
the exhaust manifold is going to have the same bolt pattern to fit any newer twin and pjs specialty ski stuff has the 2 bolt head pipe mounting.
