The Green Bean Surf Machine

Well since we have been darting down for surf weekend trips from Atlanta to Jacksonville regularly, and planning on a lot more in the future, the truck was killing us in fuel and making them un-affordable for us poor folk. So me working in a auto dealership I can often times get older cheap cars for a pretty good price, so we have been keeping our eyes open for a car that's bigger for 4 people, can pull 4 stand ups on a trailer, room for gear, decent fuel mpg, and something we generally don't have to care much about if it gets thrashed... Seem hard to find right?? Well here is our build thread for the green bean surf machine. Using this vehicle solely for surf trips or packing the boys up for a rowdy weekend, we picked up a grandma green 1993 crown Victoria v8 with 90k miles on it. Some quick research on what it could tow, and a test drive home, the deal was done.

We got it for a dang good price and if it lasts at least 3 trips, and gets ok mpg, we will make it worth our time! As of now everything is functional other than the power windows, all four do not work. I already ordered a class III hitch, parts to fix the windows, and a 70 dollar munroe rear shock air kit that way when we pack her down we can hit the free air a QT and level her back up. Its funny, gay, classic, and hopefully tons of good times in this little beast.

This grocery getter does not know what is about to happen to it.....................

From what research I have done in the short amount of time I had to make a decision, these body styles get a lot better mpg than the newer ones. People are saying they can get upwards of 27-28 on the highway. And the 4.6 is the same engine as the mustang so it will have the power to pull the skis, and being a full frame car everyone is saying 3000lbs towing with 200lbs tongue weight. And it was cheap enough to bury it in the sand and if it ends up smelling like brews we wont care.

Kinda surprised y'all didn't snag a wagon. That beast will do though. Sounds like fun times. Wood panel that biotch. Like BK said and make it the surf truckster.

When I was a young lad a good buddy of mine used to roll in his dads 1976 Oldsmobile delta 88. It would float down the highway doing 110 mph no problem. It needed about a 50ft turn radius but nevertheless we could back it full of peeps and roll-on. We used to call it the "honey-wagon." It looked just like this but had a white vinyl top roof.
