Super Jet The SAVE THE TATAS build. -2 cut, reinforce, not sure what else yet

I decided to start a build thread after cracking the hull at lsfr. The ski is going to be House of Kolors Hot Pink pearl across the top. The handpole is going to have pink lettering also that says save the tatas, around the lettering it will be black along with the bottom side also. I started off with this ski about 2 years ago, new to this but learning as i go. Last time i rode it was like 2 weeks ago at surfside with the rest of the fellas at lsfr. Ended up cracking the back side and as we came back into town i rode on a river in houston and subed it and broke 3 motor mounts and the coupler. So for now i will be trying to rebuild the parts broken. So far i need motor mounts coupler and might be trying to get a b-pipe. As i got home i decided to start pulling turf. Turns out it wasnt as bad as i thought. Decided after knowing that i cracked it and it was leaking water i figured it was probably waterlogged also. So i decided to cut the tray using a oscillating tool. Worked great used a putty knife for about 2 days pulling foam. Talk about a pain. So yesterday i decided when i got home that i wanted to cut it down. Being the first time i have done this it seemed kind of hard. Once i got into doing it thought it went very well. So heres the pictures to where i will be at right now. From here on i will be reinforcing the bottom under the tray. From there on out Im not sure yet. Any other suggestions as I go
Are appreciated. Thanks for looking also. Color of the bike is my buddies stunt bike and that will be the color i will be going with.

K so its been a couple of weeks been waiting on us composites to finally get mystuff here. I got all of it yesterdayamd layed my first layer of 12oz biax on one of the ends and did a second one today. Any suggestions on how many I should go with on the inside? My plan is to do a layer on the outside smooth everything out and then a layer of 2 x 2 carbon fiber after. On the sides I was wondering is one layer of 18oz good enough? Pleasedd any suggestions are worth it. When laying the fiberglass whats the best way to lay the epoxy. Right now im using 1 inch brushes.

well finally got able to work on my ski again and got the comp back up and running. I have now layed 3 layers of 12oz biax on both back sides. Also have layed a layer of 17oz biax on the side pics uploaded. biax.jpgbiax 2.jpgbiax 3.jpg

shame you had to rip out that turf , it held up great , but you gotta do what you gotta do .. what are you going to use for your back ride plate inserts? .. looking good so far .
get back to work !

I figured id just reuse the inserts I have. Unless u have a better idea? Lol and after talking to a friend Derek Heyn. Dont know his name on here. He showed some pixs and I might end up widening my tray. And chad i might have u do my turf for a price if I cant on my own.

well finally got the other side covered. As that was curing i decided to flip and sand the back layers. I decided to used some fiberglass bondo to cover the back side and smooth everything out. I ended up drilling my hole for my scupper as i was there. Thats all finished and next i will be drilling the hole for my exhaust tube. Then i will be layering the outside with one or 2 layers of 17oz biax and then a layer of 2x2 twill carbon on the outside to add for strength and then comes the foaming and sealing the inside. 290717_10150490994521070_599856069_11094491_454070658_o.jpg331038_10150490996436070_599856069_11094498_206658133_o.jpg332105_10150490993386070_599856069_11094488_500307863_o.jpg

Im going to try and fiberglass the stock one in im sure it can be fiberglassed in. then when im finished I wil" cut it flush with the back of the ski and do my layer of carbon. Hopefully it works as long as I sand and rough it up it will stick well. Wheres the progress of yours?

so far got everything out and the turf removed, im gonna sand remaing turf and underpadding off, with a 4in grinder and sanding pad and reweigh, c what it weighs with turf removed.
