The site?

Kind of a hard thing to search...

Is it my computer or the site?

If I log on, step away to do something and come back, I've been booted off and have to log in again. Is this normal? Part of the new set-up?

It had not happened prior.
Not a major issue, but a bit of a pita.

Thanx,
Dan

Good chance it's your computer, I have been having that issue with other sites but not this one. I view routinely from 3 different computers and my PDA and only have to log back on when I clear out my cookies or accidentally logout.

When was the last time you cleared your temporary internet files and cookies?

I'm confused by the responses.

Is it that the site is making you log back in after leaving it, or does it seem to be timing out?

The former is a cookie. The latter probably isn't.

I think he logs out each time and then clears out his cookies to cover his tracks on a work computer. I used to do the same at my old job. Thankfully I don't have to worry about that stuff anymore.

That's what I gathered from the replies, but it made the original post confusing.

From the original post, I gathered he would log onto the site, get a cup of coffee, and return to his computer to find he's been logged out.

Anyways. I'm with you, IN2. My boss knows I get on here.

It's timing out. It happens both at work and at home, so I thought it was most likely something I was doing/not doing.
Example: Post something, then go outside for a smoke/beer..come back in and I'm logged off the site.

I used to just stay logged in all day. Now I gotta log in every 10 minutes or so.

Now I'm confused...I guess I misinterpreted your responses above to mean that you delete cookies each time you log off. I know the site does funny things for different people, has this started recently? Say, after the latest site upgrade?

I had some nice gremlins that went away with the upgrade. I actually miss them. I used to get thread notifications for every response in a subscribed thread, not just one until I log in and view the thread again.

It has recently started.
I only clear cookies, delete browsing history etc... when I log off the internet & shut down the computer. Not each time I leave the site.

Sometimes if I spend too much time writing a pm, it won't go cause I'm no longer logged in the site!

And it does that both at home and at work? Strange...

Same computer that travels or different computers at home and at work?

Just trying to narrow it down some.

Also, if different computers then same Internet provider?

Different computers. I'm at work right now and have logged onto the site 4 times today. At home I have AT&T. I don't even know who the isp is here at work. These computers stay on 24-7 to run the plant.

I think it's something I'm doing. When I delete history, every box is "checked" except for "preserve favorites website data"
Sorry I don't know what firefox or mie are.

Firefox and MIE (Microsoft Internet Explorer) are both Internet browsers.

The confusing part is that it happens at both home and at work. I'm assuming you don't delete browsing history at home as often if at all right?

Log in, log out, go into your cookies and physically delete the x-h2o cookies, then try to log in again and see if it sticks.

Firefox: Tools>>>Options>>>Privacy tab>>>Show Cookies button
Internet Explorer: go into your hard drive to your cookie folder, for XP it's typically C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Cookies
