Thermometer for measuring exit temp?

I know most people just measure the exiting temp at the pissers by hand (120 degrees should burn after a few seconds). Has anyone found an easy to use thermometer to make this process more precise? I can't find one that measures that range.

Brian (Proformance1) is using an aquarium digital thermometer he t'd into the head bypass. works pretty damn good. He's got it mounted to the dash. give'em a PM to see which brand and how he installed it.

It would be nice if someone would make a waterproof digital thermometer with multiple temperature probes and a recording feature, but I have yet to find one.

There are a few different external probe thermometers on the market but most have a sample rate of 5 to 10 seconds.

They have to be potted in silicone or put in some type of waterproof enclosure for them to stay operational.

I found some digital aquarium thermometers on eBay with a min/max recording feature and alarm for $13.89 plus shipping.

They work well for testing purposes, when using restrictors in line for temperature adjustments.

I use one with a plastic T-fitting that presses into the end of the water bypass and the stainless steel T-fitting style is for mounting inline.

It is waterproof and I used it for about a month to check my temps. It has a mamory recall of high and low temps. I found it online for about 25 or 30 bucks.

This is an awesome setup. I have personally used this exact thermometer system to measure the temps at my pissers.

I don't see anywhere where another probe would plug into the back of the RacePak. Does it replace one of the EGT sensors?

I have a prob set up that has two probs in one connector
When you go to egt does it read out for 3 cylinders

Mine is the old style 2 cylinder read out so we could just switch probs

I should have a extra one lying around for the third one

Will you give me an idea of your process when using this setup? How many bypass fittings do you have? Do you do one at a time? Measuring temp exiting head with one line and temp exiting hull with the other?

does cooling have anything to do with tuning of the carbs? hot = lean, cold= rich
Water temp wouldn't be as near as good an indication of carb mixture as exhaust gas temp would be. It's more about avoiding hot or cold seizures with the different metals in the engine expanding at different rates.
