Thought I'd seen it all

I must have the luck of the draw or something, I just break everything. Ski was acting up and not running right at the AJC ride this weekend. Just took my chamber off and was blown away with what I found.

Looks like it's about to crack here too.

Has anyone seen this happen before with a mod chamber or even a limited chamber for that matter? I would think about having it welded but where it slides into the headpipe coupler it's oval, not even close to being circular. Totally frustrated because I seem to be the the one that always breaks stuff. Anybody got a mod chamber they wouldn't mind parting with? Should I bother contacting Factory Pipe?

If you can't find anyone that can weld it LMK. My friend is an aerospace welder & I can't believe some of the work that comes out of his shop. He's retired & just a hobby to him. I would guess $30 to fix it.

Shipping it out to Factory Pipe tomorrow and we'll see what they'll do for me. Forget the name of the woman I talked to but she was very nice to talk to. I'm staying optimistic for this one, something has to go my way eventually.

Well just got off the phone with Cindy and she said this was the worst chamber they have ever seen. They were surprised I could even get it running. This is not because of the crack but the round opening where it slips into the large coupler is pretty oval. She said my only options were to buy a new one or they could ship this one back to me. I asked her if she could give me a discount on a new chamber but that was not possible. Glad I didn't way around til now to purchase another chamber.

Idok maybe you'll have better luck with yours. I feel like cracked chambers they'll fix/warranty but in my case they never even mentioned the crack. Personally I would just have someone you trust to weld it locally, especially if you've seen their work before.

When I get it back I'll post up some pics of the outside.

These FPP pipes work well but are a poor sructural design. Shame on FPP for selling a product with a known limited fatigue life without telling the customer. Im glad they don't make airplanes!
