Throttle cable problems

Hi,

Just installed Riva Power Bombs, dual carbs, however throttle drum is on opposite side to that of the carbs already in my superjet. Therefore making the throttle cable two short. Have I no other choice but to buy a new longer cable, and if so is there a specific one.

I dont understand why they have put the throttle drum on other end of carbs, when they know full well that the factory fitted carbs have throttle drum on the opposite end..:banghead:

Thank You

Scott

I think you get better throttle response with the throttle drum facing the back of the ski. I am having the same problem as you right now. I have a good working cable but my spare cable from a round nose Superjet is too short. I think the cable from a square nose is a bit longer.

The cable from a Squarenose is longer. That said, you can make the shorter cable work by routing it across the tank.
Also, unless you are running a stock length pole, that cable should be long enough. (A shortened pole gives you some extra cable length).

You can also run a Riva manifold that allows mounting the carbs either way.

Yeah i noticed it can be routed accross the tank, but looks messy. I have the stock length pole, do you think ii should shorten it? Im only small in height, would this cause problems, if pole was shortened ?

I forgot!
I just got a new cable from AJS and it is longer then the one i used to have. i think it was listed as for 94-96+ which doesn't make sence with what you guys said. It is an aftermarket cable so maybe they make them long enough to run duals the proper way.

The cable from a 1993(and possibly other years) Kawasaki 750sx is plenty long and is a heavier duty cable too. The threaded ends are 10mm x 1.25 though, so you'll have to drill the manifold for the larger size and leave off the adaptor at the lever. It also only retails for 35-40 bucks compared to the yamaha at around 100.

Cheers, gonna try and shorten pole and see if cable reaches, and if not then will try to get longer cable, ahh nothing is easy.

Or should I say nothing is cheap, as i dont do any of the work on my ski !

I just found a brand new one on eBay for $10.00. The part number is 54012-3732. Sure beats buying a new Yamaha cable.
