Thrust trim coupler trick?

Is there a way to use a coupler on the thrust trim like you can on xmetal? I am running a stock plastic stubby turn nozzle which may be hindering me but was just seeing if any options existed. Thanks in advance!

Subbed. I'm curious myself. There was member here who did some sort of coupler mod on his thrust setup.. Don't remember who though.

I thought I remembered seeing that as well but couldn't find it. I know many people run the thrust trim systems. There has to be some sort of
Tricks out there to get the most throw especially when turning.

I did mine a year ago and haven't had to touch it since. I don't half to keep a jar of vaseline and extra couplers in my toolbox like the xs guys. 3.75" silicone coupler fits tight inside the thrust ring.

I did the mod on the thrust trim, I thought it worked well until I took it to be tuned and couldn't work out why the ski was so nose high and unstable, the water was catching under the coupler and lifting the trim making the ski ride bad. It did stop the blow out the sides but had to remove it. Changed to X metal trim and is awesome now, such a good difference.

strange that was happening, was looking at your method of attachment, looks like you used one more screw in the bottom than the top? guessing since this was the side with a large nut rather than recessed screw heads like horndog used. the bit of extra water resistance was prolly just enough to lift the nozzle under acceleration. the xscream is annoying with Vaseline lube especially in surf with sand getting in pump on beach. I tried using thin alum sheet metal screwed to the xs ring,we will see how long it lasts, thin enough to not feel when turning, when nozzle goes straight water bends them back. they will prolly break off evenually. doubt any plastic would stand the force long before blowing apart

Had a few ask so here ya go. I drilled and tapped (8) holes in the trim ring and used 3/16" pan hex head screws 3/8" long. Red loctite. 3.75" silicone coupler.

I had my trim get stuck in the "up" position a few times. It was the back side of the coupler getting hung on the front of the reduction nozzle. It would happen on a hard tail landing. See in the second pic how they come together. Coupler needs to be pushed all the way to the back of the trim ring when installed so it has good overlap with the nozzle. Limiting how far the ring can go up can fix the problem too. 65v nozzle fixed that issue for me.
It's not perfect but works pretty good. Great option if you already own a thrust trim setup.

Is that like 10 ply silicone?

Wonder if going to 4" would help it clear a little better. I guess if its too big it will bunch up though.
I tried both and yep the 4" wouldn't fit without wrinkling up somewhere. I'd like to try a little thinner rubber coupler and bond it in with glue instead of using the screws.

Cool, thanks for the info. I have a few ideas I'm going to play around with.
