Time restriction between searches

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping a reasonable time between searches. After getting told to wait up to 60 seconds between searches on other forums, I can definately appreciate the 10 seconds we enjoy here and the work it takes to keep everything up to date enough to run that fast.

There is a time restriction?

Yes, you have to wait 10 seconds between searches so if you mistype or your search doesn't return any results then you have to wait 10 seconds before you can modify your search and try again.

Combine a very weak search engine in the first place with a 60 second delay between searches and you have a very frustrated user. Only further frustrated by comments like, "why don't you try the search function?" :banghead:

Now don't get me started on the actual search engine itself. I have spent countless hours searching for off topic content I have read in threads and could not find again. I have gotten in the habit of pulling off topic info not related to the original thread title out to their own titled threads just to make them more searchable for future searches.

Off-topic stuff can be hard to find.
I usually do okay with other searches.

Interesting... must be a perk of being a moderator? Maybe we can add "no search delay" to the list of benefits to being a supporting member of the "X"? :naughty:

I was actually just going to ask why we have a wait at all when I found this thread.

Does it have to do with server load or what??? Have we tried running without, or does this vBulletin require some wait time?

For anyone not having luck finding something on here, try using google's advanced search. I've found things the built in search won't.
