So does anyone no from experience or fact what all I need to register my ski in il...I had a buddy buy a ski without a title and ended up having to buy the title seperate from the real owner of the etski but I've heard rumor that if it's registered in an un title state that with the registration I could get a il title..if anyone nos about this subject or can help at all let me no..thanks guys!!

ive never had a non title state ski before but ive registered a handful of skis in the past couple years i always go to the dnr in person cause its a mile from home they always seem pretty chill to me over there a bill of sale wouldnt hurt i dont think you need to have the title if you know the persons name who is the current title holder

The reason I ask is if it's in a non titling state..there isn't a title..bc the state issues them..so would the name of the registration holder for the other state work? Does this seem right to anyone or does the manufacturer produce the title

if a previous person took the title, how can you register it with just a bill of sale/registration without the old vin#'s. Seems you would need a new title/vin from another ski and register it that way. If you have the vin# on the ski still, but just got the lost title, you should be good to go.

Im confused on your question.. You have a title with your new jetski, but your state requires no title?
I have bought ski's from kansas which have no titles, just registration, I just go down to my DMV (oklahoma) and they issue me a oklahoma title, just the same way as if i bought the ski in texas which have titles.

Zswitz here's the simple solution that I and many other of my friends do. Any ski that you buy without a title, register it to wisconsin. 100% legal, online, cheap and fast. No title needed to register, when you type in the Vin number it automatically runs them to check to see if it's stolen. I've personally registered about 7 skis to wisconsin. About to do another for my 2014 SJ.

Illinois you're basically F*CKED if you have no title.

No I'm looking at a ski in a state that doesn't require titles..my state (il) does...so I'm wanting to title a ski which was never titled the only reason I'm worried is I had a friend buy a ski then the title wasn't in the same name as b.o.s so he did a title search and found that a random dude actually owned the jetski and charged him 200 for the title he ended up paying like 8-900 for a 440 hahahahah but I'm not trying to fall I to that but I see so many skis wit potential without the title Didn't know if there was a loop hole

So u register it in Wisconsin and they issue a title or u just leave it registered In Wisconsin all the time?

Legally I'm an illinois resident too, and yea your loop hole is wisconsin dude...I'm telling you it will save you so much time and money.

Wisconsin is a no title state. Therefore the registration card you get sent in the mail is essentially your title. Now there's two ways you can go with this
1) register/title to WI then swap everything to illinois registration and title, now that you have the ski registered/titled in WI
2) just leave it registered/titled in WI.

I've done this wirh no title skis for the past 5 years. If you have questions hit me up. Here's the link

So you don't need the title or registration to get a new registration in your name threw WI? Would this same process work if you live in Oklahoma? It sounds like it doesn't matter that you don't live in WI?

As long as it passes the Vin inspection you can register it. When I lived in Indianapolis I heard about it and used it four 4 skis, while still using the skis in indy. You just have to say it is being "used" primarily in some county of wisconsin but they'll never know

illinios wont title anything thats missing title or came from state that doesnt require title

if ski once had a title then you can get an affidavid... if it didnt come with title then you will only be able to register it

wisconsin will register it no matter where you live or what paperwork you have.. theyll be much cheaper n youll get the sticker in 5 business days...

Okay who's name would be on it tho if it's a non title state..the person who registered it first? And if it is there names would a bill of sale count as legal proof that the original owner sold it

No ski in particular just had a buddy who had to pay an Extra 200 his ski cause the bill of sale seller wasn't the legal owner so I was just curious
