Hey guys
I'm having some motor issues and this one really has me stumped
I have a home built 789cc motor and b pipe set up in my EME Ariel 8
Just recently the motor isn't running right
Whenever the throttle is applied more than half way the ski loses power and sounds as if it's having firing issues
Almost like it's bouncing off the rev limiter way early
It still has good bottom end poweR
We've gone through so many possible issues that I'm starting to wonder what could possibly be making it run like this
Out of the water the motor still has the same issue, so it's not when it's just under load
I intially thought maybe it was a pump seal or midshaft issue
But that can't be it since the motor behaves the same on shore
I've done all these things so far and gotten no where:
-adjusted and tuned my mixture screws on both ends almost 20 times both richer and leaner and it has made no good difference
-replaced the fuel with fresh fuel
-made sure my spark plugs were in working order
-completely cleaned both of my 44mm mikuni carbs and made sure the linkage was opening both butterfly's at the same time
-adjusted the amount of water going into the pipe (less and more to no avail)
-Checked compression and got an even 200psi in both cylinders
This is all I could really do with the ski being at the lake and the motor still being inside the hull
I'm thinking a possible reed issue but it's unlikely
Anyone ever have this same issue??
Any ideas?
I'd like to fix this without ripping my entire motor appart
Another weird thing is that even when my top mixture screws are COMPLETELY In the ski refuses to lean out and shut the motor off
Almost like it's getting fuel from some other place
I'm lost
Help a brother out
Thanks
