Don't know the exact start except I woke one morning with a bad pain (tear), rested for 4 days and went riding on a good wave day. I slipped a foot out the back of the tray and pulled back in and 'faaaack me!'.
Doctors and ultrasound says a 6 x 2.5 cm tear on right Rectus Abductis and a 3 x 1.5 cm tear on the left, no hernia, just below the belly button.
So my season is over, they say 4-6 weeks before it starts to feel better if it heals right without surgery. I gotta be fixed for January when motorcycle iceracing starts!
I am 175lbs and 6'2" and in good shape but old at 48, my cagefighting friend says Glutamine twice a day will help repair it, doctors had no suggestion but ice?
There is only 3-4 more weeks in our season here and I was loving my XFR 1100 Dasa lately......dammit!

Ya glutamine is a really good amino acid that helps with muscle repair. Other than that I would say take it easy. I had one of these about 3 months ago. I got mine form weight lifting though. I just wore a girdle type then that helped compress my abs when I was working and I took 2 weeks off from weight lifting. It healed right up and I'm good now.
 
glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body and its benificial to supplement with it. the brain and liver are glutamine hogs so most goes there. its not going to be a miracle cure and may do nothing for you. i take it for the same reason the dog licks his nuts, cause he can. recommended doses vary but more is better. at least 5g per serving. i find the best deals for it on ebay. max muscle, gnc or supplement stores can get greedy.
hey joker, what works for you aint going to work for us old geezers. all you need is some baby food and a nap and your like new. :)=

Btw throw some extenz or viagra in with the glute and it will help your old asses. Haha

thanks, you guys are a great help! So mix my glutamine with Viagra and baby food, then try and lick my nuts?
Hopefully get some on Monday, using my kidney belt and taking it easy got me thru the workweek, now I am out at the lake just watching my ski sit there, it's tough, looks like another whiskey day!

I know your old but if they feel good in 4 weeks. I would throw on a kidney belt and just go cruise around. But glutamine will help but as said before it isn't a miracle worker. Try and take 5-10g a day.
 
I have been taking my glutamine and not riding, doc said yesterday it is healing surprisingly well but no riding for a few more weeks so wifey won't let me ride my ski. To make sure she rode my XFR instead of her Fx1 this weekend.

DAA might help with healing and its cheap. Also for "your age" you need all of the HGH you can get so look into an L-Arginine and Ornithine supplements. I prefer nutraplanet.com

supposedly , excessive lactic acid, makes the body produce more growth hormone. at the end of your set, do higher reps and go for the burn. thats the lactic acid burning. the bigger the muscles, the more acid they produce. dont expect to get much hgh out of 12oz curls
 
Yup, that's how it felt. It must be my old age, as it stands I am/was in possibly the best shape I have been in for years. But this has been my year to get hurt!
 
So 2 years and everything got better. This year I am riding like a superhero, last weekend we had huge waves and I rode multiple times for 4 days straight. Then it happened, again, not as bad but I haven't forgotten that pain when I lay down for bed. More glutamine overdose and back to my daily kidney belt!
