I wasn't sure what part of the title to fill out to send to Canada, so I called the county clerk's office today and was told to take it in and get it notarized/etc.

So, I did, but was told I might need a special type of notary that I can only get at the main office downtown.

Argh, it's the end of the month so the offices are filled to the brim plus we're down to one car due to the transmission being rebuild in our van, plus I've had to take a lot of time off due to personal stuff.

Has anyone sold a ski to someone in Canada, what did you do with the title?

I got mine notarized at a bank, but I sold it to X2Rags here in KY. There's only two places you can sign and notarize on the title if I remember correctly. I thought a notary was a notary???

just do a bill of sale with vin on it and thats it. when in Canada you bring that bill of sale and http://www.tc.gc.ca/wwwdocs/Forms/84-0172_0712-03_BO.pdf and get paperwork. you can also bring original title "issued wherever" for more supporting documents. you will than be sent a bill to pay tax on it assuming you did not already pay on the border.

here is the website

edit:

PS. if all you have is a bill of sale but no original title they might tell you (buyer here) to get it notirized (sp?) which you can get for free at most courts/city halls (but they will try to weasel out of doing) so a lawyer will usually do it for about 10-20 bucks (coffee) money.

just like adam says its easy you dont need nothing but a bill of sale i have done it twice in the last year very easy, just give a bill of sale and he just has to go to service canada a local goverment office, i bought a ski in michigian and from daytona the michigian ski didnot even had a bill of sale then i had to notorize it at a cost of 20 dollars stating that iit was lein free, its very easy do change over titles in canada , i know in the states it can be much more complicated
