I'm going to stick to the facts because this thread is about a common topic only this one is unbelievable to me. The simple version is that I have been riding jet skis for 30 years and this year I thought I would try something new. I chose to purchase a Backie Chan in August 2013 because of great reviews and a good price. The agreement was for the hull to be built and displayed at the World Finals. I got a good price because of that. I liked the idea because it was to Steve's benefit to have it built on time. The hull was there as I'm sure many of you saw. It sat next to Amanda's and I have a build thread as well.
I ordered a brand new X Metal Comp Pole ($799 shipped) two weeks prior to the Finals and had it drop shipped to Trendsetterz for paint to match. Steve said it would be no problem. I was un-easy with this but the whole process is a bit sketchy to begin with and I figured you just have to trust people sometimes.
The hull was there as expected however Steve said he had "forgotten" the pole but that it was painted and ready to go. The hull did not have a ride plate and Steve said this was because the plates were all white and he wanted to paint them to match. I drove home from the Finals with the verbal agreement that the pole and plate would be shipped as soon as Steve got back to his shop.
I gave him some time before reminding him of my address so as to let him get sorted after the event. We have spoken a few times on the phone but mostly through texts. When the New Year came and went I really started to see the writing on the wall. I began to text and call more frequently around February, still giving him a few weeks in between texts.
Steve has responded with a few texts like "it will be there next week - you have my word" and "I already sent it out yesterday" and "I lag - I'm sorry" but the end result is it has been 24 WEEKS today since I drove home with my hull and I do not have a ride plate for my hull and I do not have a handle pole that I purchased myself. I have read all the negative posts and have bit my tongue so as to allow Steve time to deliver my parts but at this point I don't see any options for me except to purchase another pole from X Scream and to have help making a ride plate. This had been an extremely disappointing experience and from my view without reason. I have offered to pay for shipping, I have offered to arrange a truck to come to his shop, and a few weeks back I even offered $100 cash on top of that to make it happen with zero response!! I will continue my build thread as I love this sport and I ask that this does not turn into a bash session. This is my experience and I think it's fair that others know before spending thousands of dollars on what should be fun!!
