trim cables??????????

what trim cables are you guys using for your C.A.T.S trim system or ur regular rim system's???

where r you getting them and for how much??????????

on my 07 superjet im going to be using a protec raider reduction nozzle, OEM raider trim ring, and a protec steering nozzle, and probably a umi trim lever enless somebody makes a better on i don't know of???????????

It should only be $35 from Terrycable. You'll need to call them to order it. 800-854-4691. It's a 12' long cable for a stand-up jetski trim system. They should know what you're talking about.

I prefer to run the Pro-tec cable. it has a center adjuster for setting a good tension on the trim line in addition to the adjustablity you have on the trin lever.

my cable is from terrycable and i think it could be 2-3 feet shorter...........

I got the Terry cable that everyone recommended and I've only been out once and it's already rusting. It said it was for a Jetski trim, but it's certainly not salt water friendly. If it rusted in one ride, I'm sure it'll be junk by end of summer (bummer!)

Part number SP-435 from Terry cable. I bought one about a month ago, it was 45+8 shipping. I think the length is fine. Its a bit long(maybe 4-6 inches on RN SJ -6" pole set-up), but not enough to matter. Besides I would rather have it a little longer that too short.

WOW I have a -6 inch steering setup also and my cable goes down the pole around the gas tank on the left side of the ski across the bottom and up the side to almost the hood lip then it goes under the motor and exits to the pump on the left side of the drive shaft.

Mine must be longer than everybody elses... but I should be used to that I have had that problem my whole life... :bigeyes:

But seriousely I would order a thicker cable if you can the stretch that the cable has isn't much but if you are getting every degree of throw out of your trim that you can you don't want ANY stretch at all. And if your cable happens to be blessed like mine was you will loose about 5 degrees of trim if you push hard on the nozzle with your hand. So I know I loose some when I am on the gas.

I just bought one form terry cable. Its 11ft long not 12. One thing that is stupid about it though is they thread both ends so finding a compatible lever is going to be a little harder than it needs to be. If they left the top end unthreaded you could use any dirtbike perch and lever pretty much. It is the same thread as a yamaha perch but the yamaha perches almost all have a notch in them that you need to dremel out. Im sure there are some to be found but i work at a bike shop and we have about 100 perches and none of them are compatible.

The cable threads right into the UMI lever with no problems. If i remember right i believe i read that it also works fine with the pro tec lever.

Mine is Protec and I like it it is a larger straight lever. You can hold it to the bar with all 4 fingers. Works great.

My Terry cable fit the Pro-tec trim lever perfect(same thread size, same size lead barrel). The UMI trim lever I have would thread in fine, but the barrel on the cable was smaller than the UMI hole. It would stay in, but sloppy. You could make it work somehow I'm sure.
I've heard that you can get whatever ends you want on it if you ask, since it comes from the custom cable shop anyways.

BTW - I never measured mine but I have heard 11, 11.5, and 12 feet for that cable.

Yea im sure the UMI and pro-tec levers work great. BUT they are way over priced for what they are. Im going to make a yamaha dirtbike clutch perch work and will be able to run any lever i want pretty much. You can get short ones long ones rubber gripped ones colored ones whatever you want. I can even put an easy pull lever system on it to make it even more snazzy. All these being still cheaper by a lot than either pro-tec or UMI. All for about 90 seconds with a dremel.

i got a bike cable from a local bike store that is all stainless (JagWire)and its 10.5 feet...$10 and a smaller dirtbike lever that has tons of leverage compared to bicycle levers or even a UMI. I ride salt 100%... no probs so far
