I was trying to think of a way to have the bunks in my truck bed to double as a cart. I had these wheels and tires sitting around so I got some 3/4” OD steel conduit and slid it into 3/4” emt, threw on some washers and pins for a cheap basic axle. I used an old bedframe for the angle and welded up a little chasis that attaches to the bottom of the wood bunks, drilled holes and put pins in them to hold the two together and boom. I moved my ski around a little on it when i finished but didnt get any pictures of the whole setup in action...
I can pull the bunks out enough to get the axle on, pull it the rest of the way out and set it on the ground. As a safety, I am using pulleys and a rope to control the ski as I slide it out and it is my method of pulling the ski on the bunks back into the truck. Works nice.
The whole idea came up because I can ride behind my parents house, but 99% of the time I could go get aome riding in, there was not anyone around to help me unload, carry, and then reload the ski into my truck. So now, problem solved. Well, as long as this does not break on me right away. Lol. For the $30 and spare pieces I used to make it, I figured if it works well I could make a better version out of aluminum.
Here are some pictures... I will post some more up when I have some time to load the ski and break this little contraption in.
