Super Jet Trying to get back

I'm trying to get back into jet skis. As some of you know, I had a horrendous motorcycle accident (thank you Wayne for your support). Because I wasn't divorced when the accident happened, my (now) ex wife had total control of everything of mine, did some horrendous things while I was in a coma, got me evicted the day I got out of the hospital and made me lose almost everything, and generally screwed me over big time. (lesson here: get divorced, if you're sure about going that route, as soon as humanly possible.) I lost a good part of my memory because of the accident, but I remember I liked riding skis and jumping waves. I only (somewhat) remember ever riding a superjet and that was widely recognized as the best ski (I think, again my memory is foggy so don't give flack please). Is it the best ski?
Is it that the larger the engine, the better?
How hard is it to find someone to buy a ski from in Texas?
I don't know if I got my balance back yet, but would really like to find out if I do on water, and if it's not back yet, force it to come home.

I'm in Fort Worth. I only know of my good friends Boyd and Wayne. Wayne is a great guy!
I guess I should update my account on here. :)

Wow, crazy to hear what you've been through! I met you years ago at one of the LSFR freerides. Can't believe what all happened to you since then. Welcome back and look up some of the guys in the LSFR thread, I'm sure they will remember you and welcome you to ride with them too.

Welcome back to the land of the somewhat conscious ! I was knocked out on a MX bike a couple of months ago and am missing 10 hours , couldn't imagine waking from a coma and trying to put it all together . All the best to you , heal quickly and hope you get all the good memories back .

I completely lost 2 years of my memory. I'm only now getting a tiny bit of pieces back. This made me realize that memories are precious. The accident happened nearly 2 years ago, and I'm not fully recovered. Some 18 year old girl ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of me in a Tahoe. That accident is not nearly as bad as what happened to me while I was in a coma and what happened after I got out of the hospital thanks solely to the ex. It all could have been avoided if I just hurried up and got divorced when she cheated on me instead of waiting to do it. But anyways....
What skis are out there?
What is the best ski? (I realize I'll get a bunch of opinions, but that's fine. Opinions are welcome.)
Is it that the bigger the engine the better the ski?

Not knowing what you had before or your budget i would look for a nicely modded superjet with a 701, just to get back into the swing of things. They come square nose form 1990-1995 and round nose 1996-present.

You should be able to pick up a nice round nose with all the goods for around 5000-6000 depending on condition. Texas might be a little different than Michigan price wise.

I had a 96 (I think) superjet that was stock except I added a bilge. It was too puny for my liking. I equated it to a sj650. I could only put-put around the lake, if I remember right. I'm just looking, for now. Seeing what's available. The end of next month is when I'm going to be doing some serious looking.

The guys above are right IMO, a SJ is still the ski you should be looking for.... BUT

A lot has changed in the last few years. nothing new from Kawi or Yam... but a S**T TON of AFTERMARKET HULLS. (insert sarcasm) Everybody thinks they need one now. The backflip is the almighty goal. Standups are not fun to ride unless you can backflip them. (end sarcasm)

As for power, there are also a lot of good engine packages ready to go from reputable builders. So look for a superjet, perhaps do the power upgrades you are looking for, and then if you really get the bug back you transfer all of your SJ parts to an aftermarket hull.

OR - With a 10K budget you could almost go buy this and bypass all of the above! ----> http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/2013-aquabot-rtr-800-4mm-stroker-daytona-pickup-11k.144513/
