650/X-2 trying to take impeller out

im trying to take my impeller out of my 650sx so i can clean it up cuz its preety ruff around the edges and we did this to my bro sj and he has more power now. i have the whole housing sitting in my lap right now but the impeller is still in there and i dont know how to get it out need so help

Take the rear cone off, the shaft has two flat spots on it, check it in a vise on the two flat spots impeller facing up, now you need a KAWI impeller tool to remove the impeller from the pump shaft, you could use an old shaft and a pipe wrench if you have one available, the threads are regular right hand threads, it will screw off fairly easily

ok well i dont have a kawi tool so what if i took a screw driver or something else to hold the impeller and could i twist the two flat spots thats inside the cone? would that work

Now that won't work, old shaft or kawi tool are your only real options here. If you have never taken the impeller out before, you are probably going to need alot of force to remove it

You will have to have something that fits the splines of the impeller to remove it
