Surfriding umi handlepole problem- need help

so the steering cable has worn out a circular area on the pole the same size as the steering cable and with the steering cable clamp attatchment the cable still pushes through. im not sure how to fix this- any ideas?

i have one that did the same thing
my fix was to put it on a kawasaki they steer from the other side
