Finally got to making a product review database. I used a forum format just because it looks the most clean and was pretty simple & straightforward. If you guys could add some reviews that would be awesome! I'm sure it'll help some people out.
Also, let me know if there's anything you think I should change, and any other advice you have. It's a basic layout.

Here's the link! http://skiproductreviews.proboards.com/
Go on and test it out!

It would be awesome if you imported a database with pictures from say Thrust or Fast Elements and we could just go in and click on 1-5 star ratings and wright up a quick review kinda like amazon. I don't see how a user created forum loaded with tons of thread wouldn't become sloppy. I think its a Great idea, just don't see it being executed in a useful way via a forum.

just my .02 ignore me and carry on, I'm board at work on a Friday

That was kind of what I was planning to do when I stumbled across this idea a while back. I started a thread about it. Then I got researching it, and turns out creating a website/database really isn't that easy. Alot of them aren't free, and they didn't have the options that i was looking for, like allowing users to comment. Now I'm not really the kind of guy that knows everything about computer programming, but I'm 18 and of course been surrounded by technology for a while, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Then I came across a forum layout and it was really simple, and free, so I decided to make categories, descriptions, etc. If you can post as a guest, then it can take you anywhere from 1 minute to as long as you want to spend writing a review. With the different categories, I think it has a lot of potential. Once somebody posts about an item, people can chime in with their experience too.
I'm not doing this to make money, etc. I'm doing this because it's something I thought would be useful rather than having people posting a thread on the x asking what people's experience was with a certain item. Otherwise, most of the time on every site, not everybody writes reviews about the product, even though they have the option to. I think there's a lot of potential with this.
Sure I could make it all pretty and everything, but that's not my priority with it. I just think it would be very helpful. I'll need everyone's help to keep it in order and organized, and suggestions like yours are appreciated! You guys can help to!

Like I said, I'm not a guy that's into computer programming, and I'm just trying to help :)

UPDATE! I completely reorganized everything and added in sub forums. Should be MUCH more useful and organized now.

Alright! Looks like we have a few reviews already. I think it's pretty organized now with all of the sub categories but I'd like to know what you guys think as well. Should I change the color to make it easier to read, etc. All those suggestions are useful.
I believe you don't have to be a member to post as well.
It would be awesome if we could get more reviews!

UPDATE:
Someone brought this to my attention, and I believe this is important! If you are going to post a review, we need to know who you are. If you sign up, SIGN UP WITH THE SAME USERNAME AS YOU USE ON THE X!. If you post as a a guest, MAKE SURE you include who you are.
This is to combat dishonest reviews, and to make sure there's not a bad motive behind the post.

Thanks for all the reviews so far :)

Ehhh...kills the idea IMO....should be just like newegg....a informed smart person can read through the reviews and see what is BS and what is real. Now you have made it so people can not be anonymous....or you are asking that anyway. So we might as well all just stay right here on the X and post reviews and not get to see bad ones because people won't leave bad ones because our community is so small. Anonymous would be best because then we won't have to deal with bandwagons and familiar names.

Someone brought it to my attention, and I thought it would be a good way to avoid pointless reviews/drama. I asked about a product review section on the x awhile ago too. I guess you're right that someone can figure out if the review is legit or not. So it should just be optional for them to post who they are?
Again, I appreciate all the insight I can get. Not easy to make it perfect, so I'll need everybody's help.

I'm trying to get this to work and be helpful for everybody , but it's definitely not easy to please everyone :p
It's not easy to make an ideal website either. I give props to how well the x is put together.

So I should just make it optional to use your username from the x?
If the majority of people agree I'll do that.

IMO you are not seeing ANY WHERE NEAR the amount of negative feedback people would be leaving if this wasn't such a small community as far as freerides go. Let it go anonymous....see what happens....don't assume it will be abused or even that abuse will effect anything whatsoever. Smart shoppers can see through the crap. When I read feedback on newegg and amazon etc I can see the BS instantly. You either know what you are talking about or you don't.
