Other using 271 loctite on motor assembly

does anyone actually use 271 red loctite as yamaha states on my 66 e motor for exhaust manifold to cyl. or motor mount bols, front case bolts ect..
they are so tuff coming out wthout heat with 271 ..

I've never used 271 on motor assembly before and would hate to ruin threads when it comes apart again

I don't use ANY TYPE of Loctite on my engine, that stuff is a death sentence! As a matter of fact I do just the opposite, I use Antiseize on just about everything. On the few areas I don't use anti sieze, I use 1211.

I use 271 on the bedplate bolts since I've seen them come loose on a couple motors in the past. I haven't had an issue with removing the bolts when required. Also use it on reed cage screws (they scare me). Other than that, it's waterproof grease on everything else.

I personally use red on any bolts that can get pulled into the intake or on areas where vibration causes bolts to come loose. I don't use red anywhere that is exposed to more than typical heat such as the exhaust system. Blue loctite or anti seize on everything else. I don't put any bolt in dry.

...chaos? Its Fair!
I use blue on about everything
After I had the carb come loose and snap my intake Mani I said to hell with it and use blue on everything but exhaust bolts

I use red on reed screws and reed cage retainer screws, if they fall out its game over. I generally use blue on the flame arrester adapter, because its impossible to repair those threads if they come out with the bolts. LIke said above, anything that can fall into the motor gets red. Obviously the saltwater guys will recomend anti-sieze.

Thats the good thing about freshwater...pretty well every bolt comes out no matter what. I was always instructed to use red on safety related items along with screws/bolts that can do severe damage to motor if they come out, and then blue on dang near everything else.

I use exactly whats stated in manual on freshwater build I even buy the 572 white stuff, to seal out all the corosion and leakage. It should be a must for salt water builds.

Marine grease on everything. Blue locktite on anything important like flywheel, stator, interior intake bolts.

Red is reserved for pole and steering bolts only.

i had a stator come loose and destroy everything , after JSS rebuilt the stator , he recommended red loctite on the stator screws, , and to remove them use A crack pipe torch

The only bolt I loc-tite is the flywheel. Everything else is anti-sieze. Don't worry about loc-tite on your hardware. Thats what salt water is for.

I don't see why people think red loc tite is the devil...I have never once had an issue removing a bolt with it on it...guess most people are speaking from a salt water perspective where the bolts already don't want to come out.

Green loctite is the permanent stuff.

I have gone to blue everywhere accept the reed cage and stator bolts, they get red.

I have even heard to use red locktite on the laorate seals of the crank to hold down vibration. Tried it once and will know later how it works out.

Green loctite is penetrating, so not very strong. Only issue I have with red is when I put it on my flywheel... I needed to buy grade 10.9 bolts for the puller because the ones that came with it (craftsman) were bending and snapping... I use anti-seize on most stuff, salt keeps the rest in place.

Same exept on the cases bolts, we been using sealer like permatex, non hardening.

green loctite is for press fit bearings ftw, or atleast thats what my bottle says.
