If someone had the capability to properly develop that into a race ski of some sort I bet it could be sorted out with a money is no object budget. The 200hp version would be the only one worth messing with imo. I'd expect about 10 hours of life out at best until major r&d time was completed. With a jet ski the cooling system is going to be capable of running very cool compared to any other application. Carb tuning would be extremely crucial when you're looking at 10k rpm. Too hot or too cold in those cyl would be trouble. Not to mention the exhaust would be major fab work... The potential to have a reasonable service life is there just a lot of r&d time to get there. Problem is you're looking at a lot de tuning to accomplish that. Just my 2ct I'm not an engine builder

The trick would be to use a 90 degree v-twin as a v-4 would probably have less tq than a similar displacement twin. Big Pistons take big gulps and slap a big ass more than little pistons. Easier to fab. Lighter shorter crank.

Carbs would be in the center of the twin. Maybe even just start with a single 50mm carb. Pipes would be smaller than a b-pipe but then there'd be two of them. X cross through a single waterbox and I'm thinking dual exhaust out the back or even out the sides for r&d.

Hmmm. The gp800r/1200r cylinders are individual.... just need a custom crank and crank case.... maybe start with a Suzuki tl1000 or similar Ducati crankshaft

Why go V-4 when you can go V-8?
Been racing outboards forever. 2.4 liter v-6 mercs singing alonk at 10k rpm is a sweet sound
And yes, they have been transplanted into runablut hulls years ago

Too hard to fit a v8 in a stand up.

Has anyone ever tried to make a pre-mix rotary engine? They can get RMP's up into any range desired since there are no pistons or connecting rods. They seem like a fairly basic design and one that could be made small enough for a ski. It sounds like they can build some serious HP too, the one is this vid is quite tiny for having a claimed 600 HP, sounds awesome too for it's purpose and...it appears they have been dipping into the ski world. That fuel tank mounted on the firewall looks like something familiar to us

I know rotaries. They are not that lite. They need a good oil supply and they are not that powerful without forced induction which takes carbs off the table usually. However, a 12a bridgeported naturally aspirated carb engine can reach 11k rpm and put out 225+ horsepower. They still race this variant in GT3 class.

Has anyone heard of the Wasserjet? Apparently it’s a rotary motor that fits superjet style setups. I seen them on the web a bit but have never heard of anyone running one in their ski.

12a's are all but obsolete. Too difficult to find parts. If you are going big time, why not peripheral port? PP make 300hp with no boost. A few companies now have billet aluminum side and center plates....really cut down on weight (not price though). Wankels are better suited to a runabout though...Mazda based designs are not small compared to two stroke twins.
