Vforce3 reed valves SJ

Hi guys. Hope all is well. I am completely new to this page so don't kill me if I do something wrong please.

I have a 2015 Yamaha SJ. Ski currently has a B pipe. Engine is still completely stock. What is your opinions on the Vforce3 reed valves as another upgrade?

My two cents would be to add an MSD enhancer for about the same money to bump the timing and make it hit harder. Lightened stock flywheel or aftermarket aluminum flywheel would be next on the list.

Welcome to the forum. Good question, first thing is: What is your budget? You have a b-pipe. There is more than one way to do this and as you'll see, everyone has their opinion. Each mod is a result of another mod. More compression for the octane locally available (I believe you rate your gas differently down there). Then with more power you'll choose an impeller.

Thanks bud. Will have a look at the MSD enchncer. I was looking at doing the lightened fly. I don't really want to play with the motor too much.

Thanks bud. I'm trying to keep the ski as reliable as possible. Iv got the B pipe so i thought some Vforce3 reeds will help the ski even more. I have vforce reeds on my dirtbikes and it's the best. So I know by doing that to the ski it'll make it so much more responsive. I don't race or complete. It's just my toy so I'm keen to build it but not to a point where I have to fiddle with carbs everytime I go ride etc. I just want a nippy reliable ski

Hey bud. For now the B pipe has been installed. The water screws have been set and carbs were set too. I have not rejetted as we still on lockdown here and are unable to ride. Once we are able to ride again I will put her in the water and do all the fine testing and tuning.

Granted you will get a multitude of input on the reeds/engine etc debate, personally I would say go with any of the lesser expensive options in a fiber reed just to get those stock stainless reeds out of there. Each setup is different, each one will respond differently to whatever you toss at it. I have found that my engine responded better on Boyesen pro series reeds vs. the vfroce. In fact I'll soon be posting the vforce for sale. But definitely your money can be far better spent on things to make the ski boat loads more entertaining. Look into things like a UMI quick steer or something to get your handling response up, it makes the ski a whole new ball of fun. Do the little free mods that are as reliable as stock like cut the two center rungs out of your intake grate for better hookup. Relocate the steering cable ball at the nozzle closer to the nozzle for more steering response. Look into things like that and you'll quickly realize you don't need top dollar reeds to ramp up the fun factor.

Yea they are a waste of money. Change the steel reeds to fiberglass if the ski is over 2 years old. That being said, a friend has a 1996 with over 200 hrs and original steel reeds. Simply boring the nozzle will make a noticeable increase in low speed pull. You must learn to tune carbs, study the theory and practice with a lawn trimmer or leaf blower.

Absolutely bud. Completely understand where you coming from. I have done bars, trigger and a couple other small things. Those small things made a massive difference in how the ski feels. It's awesome. I have seen the boyesen reeds. I think I'm going to leave the reeds for now and probably focus more on handling.
