Okay dont laugh... not just yet anyway:frown:

Looking at the coming season and wanting to set myself some riding targets.

Im wanting to nail a barrel roll this year.

Ive watched countless videos, watched my mates do it, gone through it 1000 times in my head but im still lacking the balls to do it.

Do i try off a boatwake first or flatwater?

What can i do to make myself do it...?:frown:

I wish there was a shop that sold BALLS and i go buy em.

Any ideas lads?

hope this helps.

All you need to do is try...don't stress over it. That is all it takes to learn any of this stuff. I'd start on flat water...once you throw a couple and have your buddies tell you what you are or are not doing you will get the hang of it. And get your set up wake down...

i was for years afraid of blowing out my ear!
last year i got a helmet to help alleviate that fear and went to work
still i had a hesitation and a lack of "balls" even with the helmet.

so one day I got it set in my mind, went out helmet and all and just kept hammering them over and over and
 it just happened and never blew out my ear

now to just get some consistancy

i have heard a lot of people say get nose stabs first, i realy find no similarity in the too but that's just my 2 cents

Dude, you are like me... i over analyzed the hell out of doing tricks, so much so that I was almost frozen when it came time to try'em. I finally just said F it... and just blasted my way into my first BR attempt. It wasn't good... I crashed and burned bad... but after that, I realized... that wasn't so bad. Now I try BR'in off anything I can find. Still, not everyone of them is all that pretty, and i still crash and burn - a lot!, but once you try it once, it gets easier from there.

Now, I need to get workin on some backys... i have that pankcakein' feeling

Orange,

I think that alls you need to succeed is a little Want. If you want it bad enough go for it, if you over think it, you will mess yourself up. If you
dont FULLY commit to the trick and half arse it, you will end up breaking
something. Grip it and Rip it..... :headbang:
I am sure you know how to do it. Just go for it.... :arms:

Just find a nice helmet, maybe full face protection, and you have drastically reduced concerns for injury.

I hear this one is good...
Prorider.com -> ProBMX Helmet

hell yeah, i just bought that one. It's a nice helmet however the sizes seamed to run a little small... i had to send it back in exchange for a larger size. Very nice helmet though.

I say if ur gonna keep thinkin about it then ur gonna spend most of the day on ur ski just thinking.. what if?.. what if?..
So all u need to do is just picture the move in ur head and just BAM go for it and see what happens... whats the worst that can happen... a ruse, cut, scar whatever big whoppie???

Thats what i did and pulled half a roll so now i can do inverted subs.. now i need to work on the other half to complete the rotation:biggrin:

Go for it GO GO GO GO GO :arms: YOU CAN DOOOO IT:Banane01: :headbang: :aargh4:
Ok did that psych you?

Good luck

Just plain me....
The advice I hear in my riding circle is just "nut up & do it". Doesn't really apply to me since I'm a chick. But I think the bottom line is don't over analyze, be prepared, think it thru & go for it.

you know, for those of you guys who want a full face helmet, but dont like the big bulky mouth piece/chin piece in front..... check out troy lee designs. they are making helmets for nascar pitcrews, and that front nosepiece is trimmed down to an inch or less so they can see, but it still offers them protection.

I highly recommend against bailing during a roll. Other than that I don't really have any advice for flatwater rolls. But don't be nervous about getting hurt. You'll forget all about a little pain as you make it further and further around your rolls.

I, too, am hoping to BR this season, as well as get some sweet stabs. Now that I have my footholds I can't wait to try. Plus I'm dying to learn some tricks with more "wow" than the flatwater. (Come on, there are boats full of bikinis all day at Lanier! :Banane01: )

I need to learn a decent setup wake first tho. Mine are weak.:frown:

Words to live by. Commit Commit Commit. Just go for it, it's only water.

I find that watching some gnarly dirt bike and snowmobile vids makes me really pumped to try stuff. I always think, hell, if they do that on dirt, how bad could it be on water.

Protect your ears, protect your face, and protect your ankles.....then you are invincible :headbang:.

Watch the pancake vid I have linked in my sig. Pancaking under a Blaster from 12ft up is about as bad as it gets, and I walked away just fine.
