Was just going to paint it ???

Stripped the motor this week. Got the bottom ready for primer. Turned it over, 30 minutes with a grinder and the damn sides fell off. The aluminum peice in the pic is representing what I'm thinking of doing. Basically capping that area. What do you guys think?

I am going to remove the decals and start patching the dings on the rest of the hull now.

If any of you have a black fuel fill and gas cap and a black nose piece that you want to sell, I need it.

I like your idea but I'm with infamy on this... I'd just flatdeck it and run footstraps. Would be cool to see you accomplish that though.

PS - Isn't it a little late to be starting a winter project?

Keep it like you have it. You'll need a bit more than just a flat deck since you ride fairly aggressively. Worst case you have an excuse to buy a new hull.....

I keep saying just flat deck it. I use a front foothold and ride goofy foot 100% of the time. Still not sure yet. I have never like the straps. I know without the damn footholds and sides my hair will at least grow back on the bottom part of my leg.

As far as a winter project, it is never winter here. And the best waves are typically in the "winter". It was just time to give my ski a little TLC. It leaked water for two days, had two broken motor mounts, cracks in the bottom and nose, separated mid shaft housing, and just looked like crap.

I did more cutting, I am a dummy. I am planning on using a turfed round tube to make a front hold now.

wow!!

that's one way to avoid having to remove old mat glue.

yeah, i can't ever remember seeing you locked into the footholds.

call me when you're ready to start re-assembling.

Fiberglass work all done and ski is primed. The rain has been holding me up, because I set up a paint booth outside. Going to sand and paint this weekend. I will post some pics. after paint and turf.

Took the foot straps to a new level. I made mine out of UHMW.
Thanks Nick and Scott for the help. It is definetly bad ass when your standing on it. I will water certify it this weekend. Hopefully there are some waves.

That is my mini me.
I took that pick to show how the strap flattens out. It also pops right back up on it's own because of the slight twist and angle of attachment.
I can't wait to ride it.

Looks slick. be interested to see what you and otheres think of the set up.

I had wanted to flat deck my Kawi, but dont think I'm gonna consider it with the Octanes.

does it work like a foot hold? if so, what keeps it from bowing up like it does down?

my concern would be those narrow points of contact. looks like a nasty injury waiting to happen to me. but what do I know?

Good chance. I have only had one hospital trip this year so far. So I am due.
I was going to turf in there, but figured that would not help unless a wrap it around the top.
