Water box question?

I have a 750 x2 and I was wondering the water box has two outlets, one goes to the factory pipe and the other goes to the outlet of the hull. Which oulet ok the goes where?

bottom outlet should go to the hull and the top to the stinger

The X2's waterbox may be different but my 750sx and SJ have the inlet on the bottom and the outlet on the top. This way the sound has to travel through the water. If you do it the other way, the sound and water exit together and it doesn't really quiet anything.
