Blaster Waveblaster Motor Replacement - Companies/Warranties/Quality

Hey Everyone, I'm replacing my stock 701 motor in my 93 Waveblaster myself. Wanted to ask a few questions:

Type of motor. What are the differences in relation to using it in a B1? I'm a recreational wave jumper/flat water trick learner...would like to get into some tricks as I progress...no racing.

-701
-701 with a pipe
-760
-800
-1100

Companies. I've priced out a 701 from each of the following (shipping not included - I'm sure some have core charges but I have to look into it)...what is your experience with these vendors on quality, etc.? Are there any other vendors that you recommend I go with/stay away from?

-SBT 1 year warranty $550 incl gaskets
-PWC Engine 2 year warranty $550 incl gaskets
-Atlantic Jet Sport 2 year warranty $550 incl gaskets
-Watercraft Tech 1 year warranty $700 Short block; $900 long block incl gaskets

Thanks for your help!

Joe

I tried the PWC Engine place first. Left a few messages and they never got back to me. I figured if its that hard to get them to call me to order a motor and give them my money, How hard it would be if I had a warranty issue, Just left a bad taste before it even started.

This was a few years back and I needed a motor for my Wifes blaster in 2 weeks before a race so we went with SBT. Everything worked just fine and they where pretty easy to deal with.

Ive delt with Jim at Atlantic Jet Sports and he has always been more then helpful. Knows his stuff and has a lot in stock plus he is in New Jersey. Great person to deal with and if you call them and leave a message they will always call ya back. I would say go with the 701 or 760 with a pipe. If your crank is okay you could also find a top end kit that is already sleeved for bigger pistons. Hope that helps

sbt is great, im local to them so i just call ahead and drive over to pick the stuff up. Never had any problem with anything from them.

Is your 701 blown? or are you just looking to get more power?

sorry, i hate to speak badly of any company or product, but i cant help but say a couple of things.

first, just remember, especially with something mechanical. you get what you pay for! if you take the cheap way out, your gonna get a cheap motor, with cheap pistons, gaskets, bearings and seals. how else do you think those companies can make them so inexpensive.

personally, for the average rider, they will probably be fine, i guess thats what the warranty is for.lol

however, i have had more bad experiences with inexpensive parts, like pistons, and crankshafts then good. i know many others that have had the same experiences as well.
