Other WDK F1 Pro?

So I'm considering picking up a full carbon WDK F1 Pro. I've been riding a stock hulled RN for about 1.5 seasons. Anyone have any experience with the F1 hull? I ride 75% flatwater and 25% baby waves at Erie... How do they handle compared to the SJ? Are they ridable at a reasonable speed for boat chasing?

Anyone? I'm trying to decide wether to buy this hull or wait for something better... really wasn't planning on getting anything until winter. My riding buddy picked up a full carbon REV hull for $2500 a month ago but I'm not sure if I'll come across a deal like that this winter or not.

PM Idok, he's probably got more cockpit time on an F1 pro than anyone.

An FX will be more challenging to ride than a SJ, but also more rewarding (IMHO). I think they're very stable at high speed, but I'm sure others will tell you they're unridable.

It's a great hull, but it's gonna ride nothing like your SJ. It will be a challenge at first. I had only ridden fx1s before and I struggled for a week or two. It's like riding without fins on a wakeboard for the first time. An F1pro in prepreg carbon form is very light and very buoyant in the water. It rides higher in the water so the twitchy feeling is amplified. It will slide for days! I posted some crappy unedited video for someone who wanted jetmaniac motor vids HERE. That might help you get an idea. There's a few spin to backie attempts in there. I spotted the water before I hit for the first time a few days ago so I think it's possible with only a ported motor.

Is it a good all-around ski? Setup will likely be a 771 or 850 Xscream, Solas 144 mag, Thrust trim, etc. Would this setup be able to flat water flip or would that be a stretch?

I think it would fwflip with that setup. I prefer my heavier fx1 with sponsons in the waves or if I'm riding very far. When i'm chasing a boat down on the F1pro I put the pole on the hood, get low, and be ready to throw my weight off the back at any moment. It's a bit unpredictable at high speed. I've skipped like a flat rock across the surface of the water more than a few times this year. People's opinion of 'all around ski' can vary greatly due to rider skill/ preference. You really need to, at minimum, ride an FX1 (assuming you haven't) and see how you like it. Unfortunately there's not too many f1pros out there. You're welcome to come ride mine. I enjoy watching people try it for the first time. mfg:

I cut my teeth on FX1's and I ride a SJ now. When I climb back on the FX it is very tippy in comparison. FX1's are rewarding to ride, but you may find your first couple rides are eye openers.

This would have Tom21 tubbies and wide tray mod, would that make a significant difference?

Yes, it will. Keep making me look at that ski and I'll buy it. lol. I think it's a hell of a deal. al pole, bracket, steering, sponsons, tray mod, fittings....... that's almost 1/2 the asking $ in extras. It'd be a cheap way to get on a light hull. I honestly can't believe its still available.
