WDK No Bulkhead?

I just Picked up a WDK ROK-R and it has no bulkhead to separate the bilge area from under the tray. The versi plugs (look like home depot versions) on it now were not put in right and let in a ton of water. The area under the tray looks like it was filled with either expanding foam or sprayable foam. probably the latter. So the question is should i attempt to make and install a bulkhead then a scupper or just replace the drains? It seems like it would be pretty hard to add anything without stripping the ski and then opening up the tray which is something i don't want to do right now. Also the ride plate covers the back area of the hull and it looks like the drains were just put through the plate. Im guessing i should just cut the plate in that area but there are mounting bolts there. And lastly are there any other options besides the ball drains? I know the flappers are another choice but usually just one big one and for a scupper not just an open drain. or should i just seal them up all together and rely on my bilge pumps?

who makes the best plugs?

Agreed I have a rok-r and the plugs keep it nice and dry inside, I have a bilge and never see it spit anything out... put some quality plugs on it and it shouldn’t be a problem

My rip doesn't have a bulkhead either. You don't need one but you do have to remember that you are riding a ski with no floatation. It will sink faster than a flat rock if it gets swamped.

If you're buying anything for an aftermarket ski and the question is kawasaki or yamaha........99% of the time its yamaha.

Does anyone think just straight up plugs would be a better idea? I’ve heard mixed reviews of the versiplugs but have no experience with them myself. Would rather have the hull sealed up in the back and use my bulge pumps than have water constantly coming in when not moving.

I’m a lot more worried about the drains letting water in then out. I’d like to be able to sit on the water without having to keep the bilges running to keep the ski from going under.

These work great and don't let water in when just sitting and floating, does not require keeping the bildge pump running like Seas2699 is thinking

Agreed. 3/3 skis have those. 2/3 skis dont have bilges.....Stock or a/m.

Alright opinion time peeps. Since my motor is having work done I decided to clean up the hull a little. One thing led to the next and now it’s completely bare. One of the last owners filled the space between the tray and bilge with two part foam and it’s completely waterlogged. Got one side cleared but it’s a pain in the a** considering I’m just shoving my hand in throw the hood opening and ripping it out. Now I hate the idea of having this hull completely open. Scares the crap out of me. So who’s got an idea for making a bulkhead? Figured I could make a piece of fiber glass and cut it to fit then epoxy all the way around to seal it up. With this I could run a tube through the back to clear the bilge and still have the piece of mind of a foamed tray. Not that two part crap though.

I've been running a foamless ski since 2015 and I love it. I never have to worry about wet foam and extra weight. Versiplugs work great in all my skis.

As for the bulkhead, I haven't had experience with a bulkheadless ski, but it wouldnt bother me adding the additional support. Bulkhead with no foam. Best of both worlds.
